Okay.
I always come to ATS in the morning, coffee in one hand, to see if the world has ended over night. Sometimes it's nice, with some fun science, or space stuff. Mostly it's a morning exercise in patience.
I got a rule, not to call people with different opinions names, not seeing "them" as all one person, don't judge.
But it's a challenge.
What I noticed is most of them are using word they don't seem to really understand, like one of my favourites "cultural marxism". I mean sure in the time of Insta, YouTube, tiktok, etc that surely is not wrong, everybody has the means to produce their own contribution to culture, but they don't mean it that way. They mean it as euphemism for suppressing other opinions.
And the word fascists used to describe ANTIFA? That's also a really good one. I've as of yet not seen one who identifies with that idea, who would have seen their nation/race as superiour and swear blind obedience to any one Führer.
That's exactly what the Trump cult does though, "America first", "Trump is the bestest, greatest and awesomest!", and I've seen comments calling for the extermination of all leftists, liberals and so on, but it's mostly just complete devaluation of every opinion that goes against their group think.
Another thing they use against their perceived opponents but are doing themselves inflationary, like victimhood.

And I have never been happier not to be American, than in those recent years. Before I admit I looked at you sometimes (besides your military adventureism) and though "dang that's cool" but lately it's a bit like a slow motion car crash.
I know "it's just ATS" and I am not saying what I observe here is represantative I know there are lots of funny and smart people too. But...

If we'd want to talk about revolution, the first thing would have to be being able to talk about issues without dehumanising, insulting and threatening to kill everybody who doesn't support your opinion.
That's seriously #ed up.
Maybe it's just part of growing up as a nation, right? The US is in comparison pretty young, maybe there are just certain phases one needs to go through. And currently it looks like you want to try a little fascism.

And I'm not picking sides I've seen that from both ends of your very narrow political spectrum.
It's not like I'd support the American brand of globalism, which seems to be a Trump exception. So I would say go shove your left-right identity thing up your ass because in the end it doesn't make any difference.

Your grasp on words meanings in english is scary when compared to people who live english for 30 years and use words so incorrectly.

your rules are sound. Everyone could learn those rules. Basically its not "us" "them" and "they" its better to call it "we" Even if we didnt do it.. its just better to not place distance.. We should be closer.

Im not sure I know what cultural marxism would mean. Atleast in my vocabulary it sounds redundant. I am American so I may miss some sublety as capatalism to me is capatalism of ideas as well. No one should force you. But Im also kinda socialist financially. I think people should with having governments be able to be healthy. or if its all total freedom then why government?? The roads are socialist.. The internet is fascism. deal with words better... I say to people who don't comprehend.

"strength through unity." which is a euphamism for "my idea is right and you dont deserve to counter it."

I joinedthe Army as stated by me officially "to protect my country." but I was really trying too see how things worked without being an armchair theorist. And I was honest in my words. to protect the Spirit of my country. not the laws or world domination or whatever.

The us is like ats...
but the us is Huge. where i am its not like anything you could ever see on tv or on the internet. but I live in a unique area. you can see with all the protests and riots that it is not untrue that deeper issues are bubbling up to deal with. that have been left as unseeen for so long..

And yes the political system here is a joke. Which is one reason I found ATS. When the major thought was this is pro wrestling.. this is two wings to one eagle.. its power treating power nice and step on the people while having a "fight" about how to use the people.

My stance is always the same.
I Love Everyone. The more people I can have better conversations with, The better I can express myself.
The more people have a say, the more I can say.

And I AM a revolutionary. by the people. Only.
So I must play this again, partly because John was my first hero in a crowd of like 3? Michael Jordan.. anyway.. I still see their faults and thats part of the beauty and darkness and awesomeness of having to be human.

There's an adaptation of Celeste Ng's novel 'Little Fires Everywhere' on Amazon Prime. All I will say, is it is very good.

There is a vast amount of self-awareness in the US, as demonstrated in it's art, but there is also this incredible fear of the 'other'. And you wonder, how can a nation peopled from such diverse and disparate backgrounds be so afraid of difference? The only answer I can come up with is systemized, cross-generational indoctrination and a rejection of their own history and collective experiences. Fundamentally, they've been raised in fear to be fearful, that's why they appear to the rest of the world like scared little children because, as Reverbs pointed out a page or two back, there's a real shortage of grown ups. Tears, tantrums and foot stompings.

Systems, like the US and UK, that harbour elites require the middle-classes as a buffer between them and the workers. Hence they are educated in a certain way, actively filtered to ensure that they think a certain way. Only rewarding conformists and rule-followers leads to stagnation of ideas. That, combined with a domestic and international policy that eliminates and sometimes forcefully marginalizes opposition voices, however moderate and inclusive they may be.

There's a real need for 'truth and reconciliation,' holding up a mirror, being honest about the big heap of # we're all in because of rich, white men and their jerky knees and itchy trigger finger (by proxy of course).

I'm going to be optimistic, perhaps what we're seeing here are birth pangs...I hope so, I genuinely don't want to see the US have to 'burn' to be reborn, what I would like to see is more people putting on their big boy/girl pants on and adult up.

I can't even begin to tell you how important ATS has been to me, it's been my catalyst in some ways and I have met so many wonderful people here.

Well I am not against people joining the army, that's often from a point of view like you had, the same is true for police and secret services. The fish stinks at the head, so to speak.

My opinion is a gigantic part of the problems is that we try to tackle modern issues with old ideas. All our ideologies, political philosophies are mostly approaching their 100th birthday. And they've never worked, never served anybody well, they're just creating additional problems and divisions.

What I'd suggest is simple a body of state servants, ministers, chosen by aptitude, not along party lines, working out 3-5 suggestions, or strategies, how we want to handle any and all issues, how to pay for it, etc, a week discussion period and people get to vote on what they want and how long they want to try before we re-evaluate and maybe adjust that strategy.
If 25% of the population have voted that's what's going to happen. Nowadays we could do that super easy, just a MMS with a finger print or face ID.
If it was less, the ministers get to vote and that's than 1:1 with the percentage of the popular vote. Who made the winning suggestions gets to put his name on it to keep them motivated.
But it would get rid off those stupid identity crap where it's always obvious from the beginning that... well the king for 4 years will suck because all humans do if you look closely.
One week regional issues, the next national. And in case of emergency the ministers have interim powers.

Bamm! I just fixed all our problems.

That's not as rare you seem to think, sure the official explanation might be more something like to get training, help in studying for a job, money, ... but I believe a lot of everything every person ever did was to gain additional information, be part of something big and meaningful
and sex.
If that's still wrong you need to explain it better.

My brother pointed a couple of articles out to be yesterday in the Guardian regarding the emergence, or possible emergence, of a number of cases of covid-19 who have a spectrum of symptoms over a much longer period.

The first article was by an expert of tropical medicine, he got the virus early on and suffered a variety of symptoms over a period of ten weeks, and they remain on-going. Mild but debilitating seem the key words. The second article was the accounts of four women (in and around my age group which is why my brother wanted me to read it) who got sick, recovered and then went into a rinse and repeat cycle. Both these articles and the symptoms described reminded me of Glandular Fever (you call it Mono in the US, I think?) including the "recrudescance" of symptoms. The tropical medicine guy compared it to Dengue Fever.

There are some studies, small ones at the moment, coming out of China that there may be an association with Epstein Barr and Covid-19. It is tenuous at the moment, but they are also noting that the virus appears to affect the nervous system quite early (loss of taste/smell/headaches/confusion) and that some of those who have recovered are having what later appears to be a more chronic condition. Too soon to say how chronic of course.

I was wondering what you were hearing in your neck of the woods, you being in a hub as it were...I am feeling much less eager to get it over and done with, it sounds like a bitch.

We've had no more cases for a week where I live but we're moving to full opening next week and the movement of people will resume exponentially. Now may be the time to mask up.

Urrgghh...sorry to be so un-cheery but the reason I mention this is that one report I read in a Thai journal suggested that the 'West' were reluctant to address the Chinese research, perhaps implying a little prejudice towards anything that comes out of China because of the general concensus being that the virus started there. Suspicious minds and all that, but I figured a genuinely scientific community of people would be considering these findings - wouldn't they?

Either way, my brother is of the opinion that there is going to be a helluva a lot of research money being thrown at this for the next decade or more.

mono. yes I had that. Im not sure if it goes away. I was dead tired for like 3 months? I dont get the flu so I have nothing to compare it to. but to your point mono is like a recurring issue. I think now its not for me but for half a year I was so tired.

Im not familiar with epstein barr.

Ill pause here reading to say this virus seems to damage cells pretty harshly especially in the lungs. I dont know if that is real or not just my perception.

soo back to reading your post , in my neck of the woods cases are rising. No one I know, but steadily going up. I dont think this just goes away.. And i dont know if i only told this to people i know physically or if i also said it here.. but, obviously where i am there will be more and more sick people... hide from blue paint and then jump into a paintball game with blue paintballs.. your immune system didnt change.. only your exposure changed. Vitamins, sleep, all that.. but at the end of the day you cant move mountains to save a village.

so its like burning down a forest slower but the fire isnt put out.

China lied about everything with coronavirus. So its hard to trust them. I get it.. But they also have a lot of the data. but then its just hard.. they have a lot of data and they lie.. dont throw out the baby cause we are all in the bath water. .

I probably didnt say it online but there will be a resurgance, atleast where I am. And who knows then.. Atleast Im healthy and working a million hours ha. It could turn back and go back to lockdowns.. In the usa the rules are federal, state, county, city.. so any one of those can tell me whats up. my county i think is about to go more control as the cases rise. county level is where you may hear about "sherrifs"
