This story is making the rounds on alternative news sites:

BRE AKING NEWS: SEAL TEAM 6 POSSIBLY LIQUIDATED IN NORTH KOREA, ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT OF DEAR LEADER KIM JONG-UN !

The short version is, Russian sources are saying that Seal Team 6 was inserted into North Korea on a recon mission, but they were discovered by a North Korean patrol, and made a radio call saying they had suffered casualties and needed evacuation.

It's likely just propaganda ("Dear Leader Kim Jong-Un" ???), but on the other hand if it is true, the Pentagon probably won't admit it until years later.

had to be 6 huh? Seal team 5 is so last week, since they weren't the ones who "got Binladen". BTW, did you hear about Kimmy's daddy the first time he played golf? Got a bunch of hole in ones. He was a "pro".

Yeah as if they needed troops on foreign soil to assassinate Fat Kimmy. One of his generals could easily poison him and nobody would be the wiser.

My guess is that wouldn't be a seal mission.

Sounds more fitting for spooks.

Edit: N Korea already ran a similar story around a month ago.

Not admit it?

Sh!t, they would use this to bomb the hell out of N Korea.

Sean Spicer:

The North Koreans have gone too far this time! They killed our assassination squad, and we won't stand for that! Expect a bombing run every hour until they allow us to depose their leader!

Now that you mention it, I don't think I've ever heard of Seal Teams 1 - 5. Do they even exist?

Maybe it's like your check book, where the checks start at #100. Or like large buildings, where the first room on the first floor is always Room 101.

These guys are PRO at INFIL-EXFIL.

Maybe it was the UN's MEAL TEAM SIX...bringing food to starving N. Koreans?

Very interesting but I would like to see more sources on this one before I am buying it

Quick google search comes up with a handful of "alternative" media sources, all reposting word for word the same article from an article on novorossia (which I can't get to load from any link or google hit) with "Russian military experts" as the source.

Sounds super legit to me.

Just done a quick bit of research and found this.

The US Navy SEAL team that killed Osama bin Laden is reportedly set to join military training drills against North Korea for the first time.

Along with other elite US units including the Army Rangers, Delta Force and the Green Berets, SEAL Team Six will take part in annual training exercises alongside South Korean forces, according to Yonhap News.

The independent

Interesting to note that earlier this year it was reported that DEVGRU was in training for a mission just like this. Does not prove one way or the other that such a operation has taken place but it's still interesting nonetheless

There's more than six.

And for "Seal Team 6" to be liquidated would mean over a thousand guys had been sent into North Korea and compromised.

Again, seems super legit.

Team 5 and team six are totally different units, as different as the Rangers and Delta

Team six isn't actually a seal team, it's DEVGRU team six is a old name, it's member come from the SEALs however. I find it amazing people on ATS know so little about SOCOM units

Thank God this is (I hope) a HOAX. However, Man-to-man assassination of Kim Jong would be the "cleanest" way to get rid of the tubby tyrant.

Just cant think of a reason where they would use a team like the seals for this, A spook, or a bribed general... or just some bought and paid for disgruntled servant would be more likely... cause that way you have deniability... where as the Seals training and equipment would shove a big neon sign into the air pointing at us.
