I have the right to free speech right?

If I went to an all black neighborhood and screamed the N-word, by your logic it would be illogical to be disgusted with me.

See what I mean?

Yes cognitive dissonance...

According to the the bill of rights you have freedom from government infringement on your speech. Not sure it applies to your example.

Poor example. If someone in that neighborhood was disgusted with you then they could not also say that they believe in free speech. Yes, it would be an example of cognitive dissonance.

Only you and a couple of others are applying double standards.

Protest is protest.

Just because I thought one was stupid and the other wasn't, does not mean that I am against free speech in one case and for it in another.

I just thought that in one case it was stupid.

The only people actually complaining about the free expression are you and a few others.

Then again, I wouldn't expect you to stand for the rights of others, especially since they may say something you disagree with.

Since when are people excising their rights considered to be acting spoiled?

Spoiled no, but certainly selfish. The kids who didn't walk out had the right to a disruption & drama free graduation.
A portion of the students decided to crap on the rights of the other students who chose not to walk out over a frivolous political statement.

So, we should take heed to the message being sent: If your viewpoint differs from others don't discuss or try to work out a compromise, just leave and don't give a damn about anyone else OR their rights.

College has become just another way of saying indoctrination center.

Caio (again)

Why even waste your time on the forum?

All I did was point out how illogical it is to say you support something while also saying it disgusts you.

As has been said in the thread "neither is worse" so "why the double standard"?

Spoiled was the word knowledgehunter0986 used.

Actually I think burdman would call those "Entitlements" not "Rights".

Why do you hate black people speaking truth to power and assume they are criminals?

You dismissed these protesters as criminal tresspassers.

It is there for all to see. Why are you denying it?

No I did not. You seriously can't deduce the words that would follow the ellipsis?

If they are NOT trespassing then...

then there's no issue.

then what's the problem?

then they aren't doing anything wrong.

then they're exercising free speech and freedom of assembly and freedom to redress grievance.

Why do you feel the need to malign my character simply because you don't like what I have to say?

Don't know why but the ignorance is too hard to ignore. So last time.

By your logic, if you support a right, you are not allowed to be disgusted when somebody exercises it in a manner you find distasteful, because that would be illogical.

Examples;

I can't be disgusted that you called a bunch of black people 'n-word's.

I can't be disgusted that you that you have a sign on your roof that says 'i hate gays'

I can't be disgusted that you are dancing in a room full of lesbians with a dildo on your head.

I can't be disgusted If you like to stand by your window with your dick hanging out.

....Because I support all your rights?

Correction, I can and will be disgusted how and when I choose to regardless if you think it's logical or not.

BTW, you can waste your time on this site all you want, but I will never waste my time on you again.

It's not that easy for the poor members of her district to make it all the way out to the poverty pimps multimillion dollar estate, considering she wouldn't be caught dead living with the deadbeats she represents.

You can be disgusted at whatever you want. You can't say you believe in someone's right to do something and at the same time say you are disgusted by their actions. It stands to reason that you are not really in support of their right to do that thing.

It is actually a very simple concept. Reminds me of the quote: "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it".

You can't say you are defending something if you are criticizing it.

They're civil rights, not Constitutional Rights. Nobody has a Right to a graduation ceremony of any type. Again, the initial commentary on Rights vs entitlements was about a freedom of speech issue you were discussing. The students have a 1st Amendment Right to walk out, they did not have a 1st Amendment Right to disrupt the proceedings, but there was no Right violated in their doing so... they just looked like entitled little horseturds in trying to spoil the day for those who were taking it seriously and were there for something a bit more important than just themselves.
