In some parts of the world, it will cost you your life.

Other places might cost you some pepper spray in the face, maybe a bloody nose and a concussion.

Why does free speech cost you your free will?

Is it really free?

Maybe they should create a 'paid speech' because free speech seems quite expensive.

Living generations can't seem to grasp what their right to free speech has cost and why they should let those, especially those they don't agree with, speak freely.

Free speech is scary.

It's scary because in a free society you have personal responsibility. And part of that responsibility is defending speech you don't agree with.

People nowadays can't do that.

Indeed: Are employees allowed to criticize their bosses? Allowed: sure, but companies and corporations are not democracies, so there will be consequences to pay.

Do parents criticize the volunteer coaches of their kids? All the time.

Some folks seem to be trying to become professional critics. Just a complaining about anything and everything.

Free speech should be about defending inalienable rights of all beings.
But unfortunately some believe that it means that they can sit in their ego-judgement-space, and just say whatever pops into their shallow minds.

"Paid speech": is everywhere. From every corporate-speak lackey; pro-athletes; MSM; entertainer; politician...etc.

I think the trouble is a lot people cant separate or sometimes confuse free speech with hate speech...yes people should be allowed to speak freely that does not mean they should be free to spout their hatred though and call for violence etc...just because some things can be said does not mean that they should be said, sorry if i'm not articulating this well it sounded easier to explain in mind than to type.

Just my 2 pennies worth

Free speech is one of the most important human rights. Unfortunately it is a costly one and something that many give their lives for.
