What seems funny to me is that the A-bomb was dropped nmear the end of WW@. Now we have the MOAB being dropped for what could be the beginning of WW3.

Well, technically you are correct
but historically the A-bomb had little to do with ending ww2..it was rather the example that started the cold war.

Cold, hard truth... Collateral damage is what wins wars. We can sit here and discuss how evil and barbaric that ideology is, but that's war in a nutshell anyway, what you can't do is deny that it is a fact. To win a war you kill enough "innocent civilians" to make them stand on their feet and join you in fighting your actual target. This is undeniably the reason the United States' entry into WWII and subsequent strategy in Normandy and the future Soviet Bloc countries between Russia and Germany swung the war to the Allies' favor. Prior to the US invasion of Normandy and our "salt the Earth" policy, the French were cowering in their hovels, allowing the Wehrmacht to advance through their country and launch attacks on Great Britain across the Channel. When those same French realized they would either die from being bombed to dust by the Americans trying to take out the embedded Nazis or *maybe* start fighting and push Germany themselves and survive, they stood and fought. The promise of collateral damage won the war.

I am not looking forward to how many civilians have died. This size bomb was not needed. What is wrong with your president?

Nothing. He's doing exactly what he said he would do.

And, by the way, this particular bomb was needed in order to destroy all the tunnels and other infrastructure in the area.

This was an ISIS camp/base, not a neighborhood.

Get a grip and be glad the President of the US and our military men and women are actually doing something about ISIS for a change.

And to think that the MOAB is considered and old type of bomb by technology standards.

US have better, much better toys.

Looks like our politicians didn't have enough no-bid contracts going out to fulfill all of the demand. They have a lot of favors to return, so it looks like they are speeding up the destruction and rebuilding process.

USA! USA! USA!

Murder is patriotic, as long as people are making a ton of money and are working under an "official" capacity!

There are 194 other countries you can move to if you don't like America.

Can show where the founders of the nation wanted it's citizens to be financing a perpetual war machine for the profit of a small group of people?

I'll round it up just as soon as you show me where the founders of this nation wanted its citizens to be forced to accept left wing ideologies and illegal immigrants for the profit of a small group of people.

He's not a bitch.

So we're escalating in Afghanistan , still have troops in iraq, looking at putting troops into Syria, and now escalation and talk of troops on the ground for NK....

Just how sustainable do you suppose this is and on how many fronts before we are overtaken?

History shows consistently wars on too many fronts brings the downfall of empires....

This isn't bravado, this is suicide.....

It has already been sustained for decades.

Where was your concern back when Bush and Obama were pussy-footing all over thes same areas?

The same place it is now except I was more concerned w making sure my friends and I got home alive.....

Don't start trying to pull that political back and forth bs w me.....it was wrong then and it's wrong now

Stop pandering

Yes but just like nukes or gas this type of weaponry does not discriminate.

Cant be sure you going to just kill terrorists.

When you drop it where we dropped it, you can be sure it's just going to kill terrorists. Unless there is a family picnicking in the middle of a remote mountain region that is also a stronghold for the nastiest terror regime in modern history. Then you're just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I mean, it's not like we dropped the bomb on a business in the middle of a big city with thousands of innocent people.

Thank you for saving me the trouble of replying to this nonsense.

I am amazed at the ignorant responses the outraged SJW's are posting about this and I am again reminded why I rarely log on to ATS anymore...I really thought once the election was over it would go back to "normal." I see that was just wishful thinking, lol.

Anyhow, I cannot believe that anyone would be worked up over this. Like they dropped it on a school or a hospital or a daycare. Give me a break! They dropped it on some of the most evil and inhumane monsters on the planet.

Maybe some of these folks who are so triggered need to google some ISIS videos and be reminded of how absolutely evil they are...

Yes they do. I live in a huge military town, probably one of the biggest in the US and hear about all sorts of things here and there.

Ok, so basically if you go into a gunfight with a knife you're going to stick with your knife cause you made a 'promise' not to go into battle - even after 'they' up the stakes?

Get real.

I guess if you're partisan enough you'll side with inhumane terrorists that would rather cut your head off just for disagreeing with them. And they call us the hateful ones. SMDH.

Sometimes we most be careful in boards in the net, where is so many different opinions, one of the things that gets me the most is how outrage people get when US uses power, that is understandable, then you have those that seems like too angered by the US shows of power to be just of opinion and against war.

It makes you go hum and take note.

After all I am sure that those that sympathized with ISIS are very much upset that ISIS camp is been targeted.

In my case I was a very big anti invasion of Iraq as an American, But when it comes to terrorist, I say kill of the mother F

I have no pity.

I don't disagree with you in any way on this.

History has precedents that, despite modern media efforts to twist these into urban legends, actually were effective 100+ years ago.

When you said defile I thought you were suggesting dismemberment etc...

If I thought you were suggesting burying them with pigs I'd have said nothing.

trump is just continuing that no good do nothings campaign of terror against the people of the middle east, except he is taking it up a level from drone strikes to MOAB's. collateral damage will be at an all time high under the trump administration.

LMAO. You HAVE GOT to be a shill...

Do you even read what you post? Do you really think there is a huge difference between a MOAB versus 30k drone strikes?

Where was your outrage when Barry was dropping those THOUSANDS of bombs all over the M.E. and sending in his death squads to take out people on his list, people who didn't live in the US and were never tried/convicted?

SMDH.

They're getting created anyway. Except now there new recruits are making up the losses not increasing the overall size.

This is what happens when a President gives carte blanche to the Patron Saint of Knife Hands to make the bad guys disappear.

Realistically I bet it was as much an opportunity to send a message to the Mad Nork as anything else.

Still causes similar damage to a tactical nuke down to the pressure wave generated and thermal components. Granted there is no nasty fallout to contend with but if ever used in an urban environment the destruction and devistation would be deplorable.

Can't state that they won't be used on towns or cities because let's face it they are a perfect weapon.
