Hello everybody have you heard? DP has a new album out.
It's amazing sounding too. Good rocker. I can't believe that DP can still achieve that classic sound and story telling lyric's. This stuff is bad to the ba-bone!

The cover artwork depicts the icebreaker USCGC Healy of the US Coast Guard. The trail left in the ice forms the initials of Deep Purple, d and p, which are arranged to form the infinity symbol.

It's really nice to hear Ian, Steve and Don Airey together again. This is their 20th Album

Check out this tune! Thier first single off the new album "Infinite".

Hope ATS likes this, I sure do, the whole album is imho 9/10.

Outstanding, they still got it. Reminds me of Yes, Almond Brothers, Rush.

Saw them live at Shoreline Amphitheater, way back. Solid, live performance band.

Very nice! Reminded of themselves, Yes, and maybe bit of Pink Floyd. Interesting piece.

Yeah not bad for some old timers. I had to check out Wikipedia to see how old these guys were lol.
It's hard to believe that guitarist Steve Morse has been in Deep Purple longer(23 years) than original guitarist Ritchie Blackmore was(16 years off and on). By the way, Morse is the youngest at 62.
Ian Gillan still sounds good at 71. The original keyboardist Jon Lord died in 2012.
I have always followed DP and the other bands the original members were in, Blackmore founded Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio.
Bassist Roger Glover was also in Rainbow for a while.

How any band with only one original member can still call itself by it's original name is beyond me.

Yes, I agree. It should be "Purp", or "Dee".

However, I say in jest because the band has continuity of membership.

The orginal members may leave and die-off, but so long as continuity is demostrated that's good enough. After all, Deep Purple are just one of many bands that started a few decades ago and who have had a fluid membership, but persist because they have an updated memership and a recognisable musical approach.

Would Paul McCartney and 3 other non-original members still call themselves " The Beatles " ? I would doubt it.

As for continuity Deep Purple didn't exist between 1976 - 84.

There are 3 , Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice although without Ritchie Blackmore it aint really Deep Purple.
Nevertheless it gives people who never got to see Purple a chance to see most of the band and enjoy the classics.

The original Deep Purple where Richie Blackmore, Jon Lord, Nick Simpler Rod Evans and Ian Paice.

Only Paice is in the current line up.

Original members maybe but they were only in the band for a year so had little or nothing to do with the success of Purple or the classics people want to hear.

While I generally disagree with this staement (so Journey shouldn't exist?), some bands take it to extremes. Foreigner only has singer left, bills itself as foreigner, and sometimes even singer doesn't show up.

I would argue Black Sabbath is still Black Sabbath, whether Ozzy or Dio is singing, or even if Bill Ward is not on the drums.
