Thanks. and yes, they're working on it. But I suspect new materials might be an important factor - maybe self-assmbling nano-particles?

Synthetic Nanoparticles Achieve the Complexity of Protein Molecules

I heard in the news yesterday that it was some protest around the nation and they included protesting against Robot labor force.

I guess the human workers will need more than just a small protest to fight the robots.

Ha, ha, Robot cop will be next.

I kind of like the idea of robo cops. They can't be killed or maimed. Silly to protest the inevitable. Just get the legislatures to tax the robots to pay for the socialism we will need. Then we can enjoy our 70yrs or so on the planet.

Hey I think is going to be a reality before our time is over.

I tell you we are enjoying things that we only dream off when children.

We have been digging our own graves for a very long time. So now that hole we have dug is starting to become recognizable.

They have been telling us for years that our numbers are unsustainable, because they just don't need us "pesky, dirty, environmental hazards humans", anymore, and we have become " bugs that need to be fumigated to death".

They have been telling us for years that they plan to reduce our numbers.
" 1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature down to around 500,0000."

Now how do you do that?

Maybe total control.
Control all food and resources.
Control all income.
Control the basics for survival, i.e., air, water.
Vaccines? Chemtrails?

Maybe all science fiction isn't really fiction.

Except it's not AI. Massive computing power? Sure. AI? No.

True. It's not real AI. But massive computing power is all it takes to put billions of humans out of work.

The rest comes later.

Good? The eventual thrust of technical advancements will be that humankind can spend their time not working themselves to death, but instead, working to improve themselves, their planet, the life on the planet, etc. There are plenty of people theorizing about utopian societies, and one of the keys to that, is many labors that must be done by humans, can be done by robotics instead.

Of course, our race is still so immature, it will be awhile.. but I have a feeling that quite advanced species have most everything done without themselves slaving away on 12 hour shifts, freeing them up to actually advance and not feel that the only proper life is one where you worked yourself into a stressful frazzle every day of your life.

How many people on their deathbed, say.. "I wish I had worked a lot harder in my life.. and spent less time enjoying life?" Probably.. very few.

I agree that the promise is great. I also think we'd best be super-vigilant, else we'll never see that great promise come to fruition.

This is way above my level of education. I'm basically a student of history. If you look into Robert Mercer's biography, you'll find the roots of what is happening today in AI in the company he took over called Renaissance Technologies. Mercer was the person who funded Steve Bannon's right wing agenda after Bannon worked for years for one of the Bass Brothers, the oil family, trying to disprove man-made climate change. He failed miserably. Donated his experimental Biosphere II to agronomists in Arizona, I believe. RenTec then created the most successful hedge fund company ever using AI Mercer developed from algorithms he used to invent voice recognition software.
