Nearly unuseable

Today it's really nearly unuseable on mobile phones. I get pop ups with advertisements for the gulible, nonstop. Phone is clean, only happens on ats. feel like 1998 on a warez site. Ats should have more say / overlook over the ads. Desktop is fine, but mobile is extremely annoying. Sorry for casual style, I'm on mobile

On mobile, I HAVE to disable _javascript, else ads take over n vids crash threads.

I'm almost an exclusive mobile user, hence my short posts. But yeah, sometimes the mobile ads make it unusable.

I'm almost always on ATS on my phone too and I noticed the same thing. There was always an annoying video over the pull down menu at the top left of the screen. After I installed the free Kaspersky antivirus app, it completely went away.

Maybe something with how the ads are on ATS?

Don't get any ads.. .and, I'm on mobile and hardly ever log off and in.

Don't block adds either.. .just don't get any.

I almost exclusively use mobile when visiting ATS these days, I never get ads or anything whilst signed in.

One of the perks of being a member I suppose but even if I'm not signed in the ads etc are not too bad.

I'll check see if I'll have issues.

I checked, no problems. Even when I stood in the garden where I get terrible signal, sometimes I get problems with ads when I have a bad connection.

I'm not that IT illiterate but have you tried deleting history/cookies?

The ads were mainly google play related for me, didn't even get any pop-up videos.

With desktop -as I wrote- it´s all fine, I almost never see Ads and my adblocker is disabled on trusty sites. I don´t have an adblocker on the phone. To the question,was I logged in, yes of course I was logged in, from the start.

It´s not about ads yada yada. It´s about what kind of Ads. I had one sneaky fullscreen popup that mimiked Telekom Germany and it was a scam for sure, had no option to close either so I don´t know if it was a redirect or panel type. About Galaxy S7 and how I´m the lucky winner. Another one, when I open up another browser"window".

I know it´s not always easy to have a say in what ADs are displayed, but it doesn´t add to the reputation of a website, if you get sneaky fullscreen ads/redirects to scams.

btw I typed ats into the searchbar and used google to get on ATS. the smartphone has no third party apps except for signal, whatsapp, a reverse number search and a printer app from CANON. The real one, I checked that of course. Never had problems because I almost never surf on my mobile.

I seen two ads logging in a while ago on my phone. Small price for admission.

Not a bother to me. Meh

now that I read playstore, yes the playstore was in between there. I sometimes just swipe on the return symbols until I see the startscreen. I know, there is a button for this but it´s a tick...

again, not about that there are ads, but what kind of. I guess I just use desktop but I´m still of the opinion, scam ads should´nt be here. won´t argue about that, it´s my opinion.

Same here, though I'm on mobile version. Practically ad-free, and it's always that way for me.

It does make a difference when you are signed in. As far as paying for membership to receive certain benefits, well, the only way I would support this sight is, if I did pay for membership perks, then such other members who chose to pay also, will not become bully's and be abusive.
I use to frequent another forum and they push membership, and make it difficult to navigate so you are tempted to pay for the benefits of being a paid member, such as being excluded from any and all bans. Well, this opens up a lot of sinisterism. I paid for membership and found that many other members who paid were foul, abusive, and just plain stupid, all because they are excluded from being banned. I ended my membership, because I will not pay for someone to bully me or other's. So, boycott begun. It's really sad for that site and the administrator's who are not doing a classy job.
There will always be bully's, but in society, such as public forums, we need to filter between actual well thought debating, or just plain abuse. It should never be tolerated.
I have found ATS has some of the most intelligent blogger's online and moderated better than most and freedom of speech is still allowed here.

But I know that the ads are annoying when one wants to be anonymous. Just remember that without those ads, we would have to pay for a membership just to keep the forum alive. Just sayin.

Pop ups, ads launching play store links to apps. Screen covering video ads. That was the contents of that post.

I think the terminology you used perfectly part way through this falls on deaf ears of newbies.

This is NOT a PUBLIC FORUM-Free for ALL. This is a private, members only forum with an owner, admins and mods, rules, decorum, Ts and Cs, and respectful expectations..still with a lot of lee-way once you join.

This is what makes our ATS Society of Members a bit more astute than Reddit and other non-sensical forums where there is supposed "freedom of speech"..and ultimately lacks tact and class and shows it.

Unfortunately...we get overflow from these places...and removed comments/ threads banning(not you to what your were referring to yourself) Ts and Cs etc...is one of the best ways we keep it together here.

And us NOT getting ads and autoplay videos and page covers shows that you here since 2011, and me since 2010, and adhering to the Ts and Cs in general...SHOWS the ones who get these do not understand that if its not everyone...then its in THEIR viewing and settings habits, including downloads, links, favorites etc....

You´re not getting the point. I was logged in, I only get those scam ads on mobile (when logged in) and it´s not about that there are ads but the quality. The phone is clean -as I wrote- and I do not use my phone for gaming or surfing around. and when I do, it´s to check on ats, maybe every month.

And even for non logins, it would raise the quality of ATS if there are non invasive ads and no scams that mimik other companies. That was the whole point, I even acknowledged that webmasters not always have a say in what ads are displayed...

I also wonder what you want to convey with the "and adhering to the Ts and Cs in general.".
