Guys, I know the presidential elections are very convincing.
I'm sure it feels great to put your faith into another politician.

But they don't care about you.
Presidents as of the last 30+ years have done very little, apart from being professional talking heads.

People backed Bush Jr. while he passed horrible laws.
People backed Obama while he passsed horrible laws.

Both administrations were terrible, and I'm not just talking about foreign policy.

The last 8 years alone, I've been unable to discuss terrible policies- because people "liked Obama".
It's superficial, and it's nothing more than a game to most people.
I'm confident ATS members aren't most people.

"GIVE HIM A CHANCE!"

That's fine, go ahead.
But when the time comes, and you have been clearly betrayed, will you be capable of holding our new President accountable?

Or will the false sense of allegience to a political party which doesn't represent you fairly keep you too distracted?

Good post, I agree 100%.

Trump (and Obama and Hillary and Bush and etc.) is nothing but a tool being used to divide conservatives against liberals and vice versa.

If you have a crowd of people in front of you the best way to get through is by dividing them down the middle so you can walk through unabated.

That is what they are doing and they are doing it very effectively.

For me, it's never been about the man, but the governance.

The biggest problem I see with all of the Trump hate on what people fear he MIGHT do is that it will diminish the impact of necessary and appropriate criticism for when he's actually done something worth condemning.

I'm already tuning out... Getting boring.

+11000 The pessimist in me says no, they won't admit they were betrayed. The masses will find some way to justify whatever and will quickly forget any lessons they may have had a chance at learning.

On the brighter side, they keep pushing us closer to the end of western civilization, so as long as nutters who don't buy into either side keep passing that knowledge along down the lines there's still hope that something better will come along.

I fully agree with this stance. To me humanity in general is getting perverted by social and economic influences creating false sense of status. Which is why we're here, discussing this.

Agreed, the Presidents are talking heads designed to absorb blame and anger (or blind faith) while the real culprits get off freely.
It's how the NDAA was passed under Obama, the Patriot Act under Bush.
Journalists should be salty over the Espionage Act, but Journalism died years ago.

In this brave new world, it will only become increasingly more difficult to discern real issues from issues designed to distract and divide.

I tend to believe you and think things really started getting bad towards the end of the Reagan years when corporations started outsourcing manufacturing. No president since then has tried to stop the outsourcing as it has moved up the chain to the point where only executive offices are here for many companies.

I want to believe that things will be different with Trump. Mainly because of the way the establishment went after him on all fronts. But just like the start of every sports season when every fan has hope that their team will do well, it usually doesn't turn out that way.

This time though I'm feeling hope. If he turns out to be another Bush then we are all screwed. If he surprises us all and keeps his word after 4 years, it will be the real time to celebrate.

A Voice of Reason in a Sea of Ignorance.
Both Bush and Obama were judged during and after their terms. Trump hasnt been President but a few hours
All the anger and bitterness because the Constitution forbids an Obama life long Presidency.

NOT a single politician that has ever been elected is OUR friend. They serve the interest of BIG PHARMA, OIL, GOLD, DIAMONDS, Lobbyists for any number of industries, but for the people by the people, LOL! In our dreams.

I believe that Barack was so disarming when pushed on policy, and the left could not push back. Trump doesn't have those skills. So he either gets the country moving in a direction of pro middle class pro small business or it's going to be very bumpy for him as all will turn on him. Not just one side like Obama's opposition from the right only. Trump is too easy to dislike and he most likely gets fierce push back from conservatives. I told my wife not to get to upset yet. Trump is a Republican from Ny and that is like a democrat in the rest of the country.

That's only been blindingly obvious for centuries. Politicians of any brand are not our friends. Never have been, never will be.

They are, at best, our employees. To be hired and fired at our whim. At worst, they are our enemies, to be hung or ignored, at our whim. With little or nothing in between...and the sooner we come to that realization, the better off we'll be.

History tells us one thing America will one day be History .NO country has lasted over 800-900 years and only Rome its self has the 900 years mark .
The average country last 44 years .Americas prime is long past around the time i was born in the 1960s .
Buy 1975 the first getting old pains had started . Buy 1985 the country had its first heart attack .
They put stints in did a few bypasses and have been barely able to keep it heart beating .
Just look at this site how many post are there with Trumps or Hillorys name on them ?
People are desprite and grabbing for straws . We all know the same thing the ONLY thing keeping this country going for the last 30 years is the wars we have gotten into .
Trump says he will bring jobs back ? Well we have proof you cant run a country on services .And even if every factory in the world came back here there is NO industry base any more .
The first Industrial Revolution took 50 years to get in full swing from the day ford invented the assembly line Untill 1955-65 . No way Trump can repeat that in 4 years let along 8 .
At this point we would need 10 million good paying factory jobs to even make a dent in the underpayed work force .
If be some chance that did happen then i promise you will never need to ask for a raise again .
But I do not think there is a doner heart for America anyware in the world .
Trump may want to but wanting is a long way from being able to .
Its not Revelations but these are teh end of days what follows hopefully ill be dead and going .
