I am pro-sex industry in general so I support the technological expansion of it for several reasons (many of those reasons are actually beneficial to live, non-AI sex workers). But I don't think it will impact population. The cost and convenience of having "sex robots" would never be as cheap nor as convenient as common birth control.
In other words, if a person has difficulty procuring common birth control methods, they will be even less likely to have the resources for a sex robot.

I don't think that birth control costs figure into the grand scheme of things when you do a cost analysis of how much you actually spend on your significant other when in a relationship.
The "cost and convenience" of a sex robot may very well be cheaper, in the long run.
Just sayin...

People might not accept them unless they became so realistic that they couldn't tell them apart from real people.

I predict that once realistic looking robots start replacing human intimacy and possibly doing it better we are in for some social changes our civilization has never experienced before.
I think in the distant future it will definitely effect population growth if it is a common thing which I predict it will.
