Muslim students demand prayer rooms in every 'major building'

Students at the University of Maryland have released a list of 64 demands in their effort make the campus more amenable to "Marginalized, American Indian, Black, Latinx, LGBTQIA+, Muslim, Pro-Palestine, and Undocumented" students.

Is it just me, or are letters being added on a weekly basis to the LGBT label. I honestly have no idea what the "I", the "A" or the "+" are supposed to stand for. To save everybody time and effort, why not just contract this to NH (non heterosexual)?

...scholarships for “students of marginalized communities,” a ban on Columbus Day, beginning every on-campus event with an acknowledgement that “this is Indigenous Land,” that African American professors get tenure, that preferred pronouns are included on rosters, and that “queer diversity training” is required

This an interesting mix of nutty demands, entertaining to a degree as well...until one realizes that these kids are likely actually serious.

If I were a parent of any of these kids, I would only have one demand. Knock it off, concentrate on your studies, or next Semester's Tuition cheque is going to bounce.

Muslim students also want “one room in each major building designated for prayer” and “shuttle services to [the local mosque] for Muslim students to have access to a place of worship.”

When it comes to Christian and Jewish belief systems, there is constant pressure to have all things religious banned from the education system. Muslims meanwhile expect more and more accommodations for their belief systems...one room in every building for prayer, and shuttle services, of course...where are the atheist activists when you need them (oh, forgot - they are busy this time of year trying to eradicate Christmas)?

More Campus Craziness

As College administrations and professors continue to slide left, they react to, and try to accommodate, even more left and loony students...safe spaces, play dough, stress dogs, no grade systems, speech control including the pronoun police, etc... One has to wonder what will have to happen before the grown ups will finally insist that students, I don't know, focus on learning their chosen field of study.

College administrators should talk to the student's parents - they are the ones that pay the bills. If they do that, I guarantee this nonsense will be gone/off like a prom dress.

If you don't like the institution you go to...travel out of country to where they have these belief systems in place for a number of years. Again, oppressing your beliefs onto others is a total disrespect to someone else not sharing the same belief system.

Obama better get right on this...We don't want any trouble.

Yeah, these kids are pretty dumb for requesting/expecting this to happen.

If they want to pray then they should go to their own mosque on their own dime. If college affects your ability to pray when you want then you should have thought of that before signing up for it.

Why do people care what college students are doing? You know, if people spent their energy focusing on our corrupt politicians and their donors, both R & D, instead of what 18 year olds are doing then this country might start making some progress into removing corruption from our political system, you know, draining the swamp.

Obama is Christian, the Muslim thing is a myth used by the right to somehow discredit him as if he doesn't discredit himself enough already.

Maybe they can save space, time & money and combine all prayer rooms with transgender bathrooms.

You are under the assumption that the Left cares about the Separation of Religion and State. They care about no such thing.

They care about the Separation of Christianity / Judaism and State.

"I think these demands are ridiculously easy to accomplish" - if true, then why not? Certainly shuttle services are an easy one, most Unis have them already. If the prayer room demand can't be accomplished, then they will have to accept it.

I believe the 'atheist activists' you mention, probably don't care about these issues.

I disagree, almost every president has been Christian with the exception of a few, I think they've screwed up the country pretty good without the help of Islam up to this point.

Not anymore it isn't. That is a simple fact. It's the territory of the United States of America, it belongs to the State (ultimately), not the Native American Tribes. Can't rollback 400 years of history.
