What are we seeing here on NASA's Satellite H1?

I never knew where I should of posted this, so here will do if it's suitable for this forum.

Something really strange appeared on the satellite H1 on November 17th 2016.

On November 16, the satellite was still functioning normally then on the 17th something disturbed the satellite but the H1 camera still managed to capture images and one day later the 18th everything returned to normal.

Here is a quick glimpse of what we're seeing from normal to strange:

But it's not just one image, I'm going to let you see for yourself:

1.) Go HERE to NASA's Stereo images site.

2.) Use these dates and satellite. (Choose what ever resolution you want)

3.) You should now have a list of images starting from 18th of Nov at 15:18pm and the last image should be 16th Nov 00:09am.

What is going on in those pictures?

I'm stumped, hopefully you can all help with answers.



Hopefully you see what I'm seeing with the instructions to find these images.

Followed your instructions and got the images without issue.
If what you're referring to is the planet in the images, it's probably Mercury.

If you're talking about the white lines, I believe those are cosmic ray strikes.

No I'm talking about the giant spherical object.

As you can see in the first image, where it's showing the 2 planets with as you say the white lines, that's normal, it's what happens over the course of the next day that's got me stumped.

Check all the images.

Looks like a reflective artifact of the sun. Regardless, looks pretty strange. NASA may have been performing a calibration and the ghost image showed up in the frames.

Great find, S&F.

Mercury would be a tiny little dot, probably one of the two dots with lines. Since the object has the appearance of being between mercury and h1, the dots and lines should disappear, but they don't, making the image an artifact. Also, if mercury was captured that close, it's transit speed would take it out of the frame very quickly but that doesn't happen. So it can't be a planet because it's translucent and it's stationary. Which means the most likely explanation is that it's an artifact of a ghost image of the sun due to calibration issues.

Makes sense.
I'm by no means an expert on the matter but it's all very interesting to me
My next best guess would have been a reflection of some sort.
Anyway, thanks for clarifying that.

It does appear that spherical object has white hair and a white beard. Maybe it is Santa's planet. You know, Christmas is just a little over a month away.

planet-sized ship Nibiru,

which means “planet which crosses the skies, or planet of the crossing” travels at 1,008,600,272 feet per second, the speed of light. Nibiru is about 2½ to 3 times the size of the planet Earth. Nibiru has a crystal dome giving it the ability to break down light

Some other possibly related anomalies within the same time frame of those 3 days. Nearly every one ends with a low resolution image in all consecutive photos. Perhaps they have been blitzed by a solar flare?

Can't seem to find any imagery for the behind cams for the whole of Nov, but perhaps I am missing something. Is this normal/have they been decommissioned or something?

This formation in the OP may well be related to Planet X and co. In fact most certainly. All the objects (8 or so) have the potential to go 'second sun' and likewise the refraction persona that creates a ghost aura larger than the object itself (it's an illusion of sorts)

The sphere is a camera artefact I htink - it's concentric to the outer sphere camera effect.
Pretty cool images though - looks like a face of fire in the middle of the sun.

I've never seen a camera artefact look anything like that, does anyone have any examples of Stereos H1 camera doing this before?

It looks like a reflection of the lens.

There's this STEREO page over here that shows something similarly spherical. The page suggests there's missing data that will be filled in at a later date following more processing. The artefacts page is here.

It's similar, but I can't help seeing a lens reflection. What's putting me off that as an explanation is how I've never seen one like that before. Certainly not on the Stereo Mission.
