The nerve bundles and fibers in the heart are independent of the rest of the human nervous system - perhaps they play a role? I feel my heart chakra all the times, I would guess that the neuroanatomical substrate for this would be the sinoatrial node of the heart. This node is responsible for stimulating the heartbeat AND it is located centrally along the spine so it is aligned vertically with the rest of the chakras (or churches/seals if you prefer Christian etymology). When we feel our heart chakra it may be originating from this node.

Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
