And where is anybodies right to free speech being impeded? Look around this website? See any examples of peoples freedom of speech being impeded? There are threads here every day with the most absurd disgusting things, saying 'Hilary Clinton Has Aids!' and suchlike. Did that get impeded? No. Did it get called disgusting? Yes. But it wasn't impeded.

Extreme progressives are about as common as extreme conservatives.

You have your fascist supremacists, corporatists and the like on one side and the triggered safe space flag burning cop hating group on the other side.

Both are extreme minorities, but are bound to make up the majority of what grabs your attention the most. Both because we surely do have a criminal mainstream media, and because Novelty stands out. You're not going to read stories about Jason attending high school class and getting a B on his assignment. That's just not news we care about. We want to hear about a gun toting trump supporter spouting racist remarks, or about an advocate of infanticide, gun bans and the like.

Neither represent a reasonable amount of the people.

Turn off your Internet and TV and walk outside and you're far likely to see the majority of us are in the middle and even hold different stances on difference topics.

I want to take back the title of "liberal".

I think I'm liberal.
I want fewer laws, more freedoms.

I want drugs decriminalized.
I want freedoms for everyone to marry who they wish.
I want people to be comfortable using the bathroom they feel most comfortable using.
I want all rights returned to people who have served their time in prisons.
I want a government program for mental health.
I think we should take care of the homeless with our tax dollars.
Our military needs to leave the Middle East.
Too many laws on the books for taxes and start-up new businesses. End it.
Lower taxes so everyone can spend their money as they see fit.
No more mandatory health insurance.
Term limits on Congress and Supreme Court.
Fines and punishment for over-spending in government departments and programs.
Punish manipulators in the Fed and Wall Street.
Honesty and transparency in government.
Focus on the individual, not the collective.

Make being a liberal great again!

They set the budget.
They declare war.
They can over rule the president.
They make laws.
They passed the aca which is god awful, but not obamas fault.

the traditional right/conservatives in the USA still value fairness, and the rights of the individual. traditional America values hard work, respects everyone, and believes in honesty.

today's left (liberal no longer applies, I think) believes in group politics; you are not an individual, you are a member of ___ group. political victory is of the utmost importance so lying and (voter) fraud are acceptable if they advance the leftist cause. hard work, especially in a private business, is for losers. certain groups (Christian, white, male, straight) may be treated with contempt because they are ideologically inferior.

we are in the midst of a generational / values change. I fear that with time traditional Americans will die off and so will the values. looks like the future will belong to book-banning leftists who are great at respecting the sexually diverse but unable to motivate selves to work for a living.

but.... the christian RIGHT has been burning books all along, the christian religion, as well as most other religions have a long history of burning books and manuscripts, destroying artifacts, and hiding any history that doesn't coincide with their world view. it's part of their traditionalist ways... preserve tradition at all costs.

and... "american traditional values" have seen an ongoing transformation since the time of america's discovery. a hundred years from now, they will be different from they are today, and I'd be willing to bet that "hard work" won't be valued as highly mainly because robotics will be doing most of the hard work.

having said that, there is a war on terror going on. we had a bombing in NY this weekend allegedly by someone the FBI knew about and failed to follow up on. FBI so worried about political correctness they didn't do due diligence. same with the Fort Hood shooter; he had all sorts of red flags but higher authority insisted he me coddled and promoted.
