Okay, let me start by saying that I am glad that this young man was not harmed during the robbery.

But, having said that...LOL.

I thought it was, "What do we want? Dead Cops! When do we want them? Now!"

And also..."Pigs in a blanket...fry 'em like bacon."

But wait...

A University of Houston grad student active in the local Black Lives Matter movement is suddenly all for police patrols in his neighborhood — after he was robbed at gunpoint outside his apartment.

Jerry Ford Jr., described as one the leaders of the BLM movement on campus, tells KTRK that he spotted the young man loitering outside his apartment one evening last week but thought little of it. But when he went to unlock the door, the man pulled a gun and stole Ford’s wallet and cell phone.

“I hope they would take a bigger stance and put more security over here because you have a lot of people walking back and forth to class,” he told the station.

Is This Karma?

I hope this incident serves as something of a wake up call to him, and others in his movement.

Nothing special really, just some peoples typical short sighted inability to see something from more than their limited immediate perspective.

I mean, he is a college student after all, so throughout his lifetime I'm sure he'll come to realize that at that point in his life. He didn't know #.

What's the old saying? A liberal is just a conservative that hasn't been robbed yet?

"When I was a boy of seventeen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-five, I was astonished at how much he had learned in eight years."

This quote, and variants of it, has been attributed to Mark Twain (though his authorship is disputed).

I think it describes the transition from youthful know-it-all-ness, to the shock of reality-setting-in, quite beautifully.

When you are at university (and before/after), and you have a distaste for police.

The reason is, you probably dont give a toss about police one way or another, what you dislike is the laws, especially the ones demanding you cant ingest what you want.

Many in the anti-cop trend are in the wrong movement..they would be better served demanding things be legalized for rec use, signing petitions, education, etc...that would serve themselves, and humanity better...and not seem like such a idiotic hypocrite when you need a cop. (hell, the police that comes to help may have just got done attending a "legalize it" rally earlier with you

Why is this newsworthy again?

1. Millions and millions of people by now have been active in some form or another with BLM. Just like how most Trump supporters aren't in a "basket of deplorables" most of these people who have been involved in BLM aren't chanting about killing cops.

Do you know that this college kid has ever done that? Yet you opine "Is This Karma?"

Is it karma every time something bad happens to a cop because some cops are horrible people who harass, brutalize, abuse and murder the people they're sworn to protect?

2. What is the obsession with worrying about what college kids in the right-wing media? It's pathetic.

What's next? Is Fox going to start lurking around the Posse Comitatus forum on ATS?

It's not, which is why it's in social issues and civil unrest instead of BAN or current events.

Why are you here if you don't care?

That might make more sense if wasn't being reported by Fox News.

You've already agreed that "it's not" newsworthy.

So what is your problem with me saying it?

Why are you here if you don't care?

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize this thread was a safe space for pro-police agitprop.

There is an amazing way for you to not have to endure reading a thread you don't want to. I'll list some instructions for you.

step 1. don't click on something you don't want to read.
step 2. if by chance you clicked on something and you realize you are no longer interested in it, click the "x" in the upper right hand corner.

But should you actually go all the way to reading a thread, and commenting on it in detail, please don't be such a bonehead as to make several sentences about how much you aren't interested in the topic. It really makes you look foolish.

I'd say people posting weak "then why are you reading this thread" posts because somebody has dared to violate the sanctity of their safe space is definitely triggered alright.

blm protests are to highlight the absurd amount of coloured people killed by law enforcement.
they don't want them to stop doing their jobs, just to stop shooting them, dead.

maybe start a stormfront section for the race baiters, celebrating every black crime committed on white people and, its white genocide i tells yah! or like this one, celebrating a black guy getting robbed.

I hadn't seen this article.

I do find it interesting since BLM has been a huge advocate to eliminate police on college campuses that now all of a sudden since one of their members required law enforcement assistance that now it is paramount to have more police?

Too bad you can't see the irony....

It's not newsworthy to ats, which is why it's not posted in a news forum.

Why are you in a thread pissing and moaning about it? Kind of idiotic to voluntarily participate in something that one finds stupid and not noteworthy, don't you think?

And now you've resorted to buzzwords to try and spin this into something it isn't.

Obvious derailer derails obviously.

And I'd say the one who's in a thread purely to whine about the existence of said thread, and then continues to participate in said thread and was foaming at the mouth to start tossing out buzzwords in an effort to ridicule everybody else is more likely "triggered" than any other participants.

Look! Now we're all saying things! And giving you the attention you need instead of the OP! Your plan is working! Yay!

At first I didn't find this interesting enough for a star or flag. Interesting enough to read, but not THAT interesting. Since clearly this appears to be a hot button issue for some folks, I've since given it a star and flag both in the hopes that as many people read it as possible.

Facepalm !

Let me get this right !

Black people go around robbing everyone they can , yes

Black people than get shot and killed by police , yes

Than blame white people ?

I don't get it ?

There is no absurd number of blacks being shot by police. there is a absurd amount of news coverage of police shooting blacks, that is where yu get that feeling from.

Again more white males are shot by police than black males.

I will try and find the link to the findings so you can see for yourself, I think someone posted it in another thread.

remember more black men shoot black men than all the cop shootings combined.

I'm not whining about the existence of the thread. I'm not "pissing on the thread" either. I'm was pointing out that it was asinine that one of the largest news media companies (who dominates the "cable news" and talk radio markets by a huge margin) sees this as newsworthy and more to the point, I was questioning what agenda is behind an editorial decision like that.

I'm sorry if you don't see that as a legitimate position.

Furthermore that was only a part of my response that you chose to latch onto. Remember point #1?

1. Millions and millions of people by now have been active in some form or another with BLM. Just like how most Trump supporters aren't in a "basket of deplorables" most of these people who have been involved in BLM aren't chanting about killing cops.

If that's not on topic, what would you consider to be on topic?

"Yea! Those stupid BLM terrorists sure come runnin' for help from the 'pigs' when the SHTF! S&F for a GREAT OP!"

Why should we assume that it's "karma" that a student is robbed because he is involved in activism critical of law enforcement? Think about what you're saying. People who are critical of the police shouldn't have police protection? You really think that is the moral highground?
