The AF is not supposed to initiate any sonic boom speeds near any population areas, however, there are exceptions. It seems that they haven't been respecting that law lately so I suspect it was a sonic boom. I heard the one mentioned to have occurred near Howard City and it was a big one that shook our house too. I thought an electrical substation or propane storage tank blew up. It took a while but the MSM reported it and finally the AF admitted that it may have been a sonic boom, but never actually confirmed that.

Hmmm, curious. I'm here in central NY and I heard a boom/rumble around 8:30 last night. Not a cloud in the sky.

At Mach I it would take about 20 minutes to fly to St. Ignace...So it doesn't take long for these Jets to skip around the state...Sonic booms were very common way back in the 60's...
