Webster Tarpley has published an apology and retraction for gossip about Melania Trump, which has appeared in commentary published or broadcast on tarpley.net.

tarpley.net...

The Morning Briefing published on tarpley.net on August 2, 2016 referenced unfounded rumors and innuendo regarding Melania Trump, wife of Republican Presidential candidate Donald J. Trump, and her life prior to her marriage.

The substance of the rumors and the complete apology and retraction can be read on Mr. Tarpley's website, along with a large amount of excellent political analytical content and even a couple of fine downloadable books.

I don't really have much to say about this. I am an avid follower of Webster Tarpley's political pamphleteering and internet radio program World Crisis Radio.

Webster is an excellent guide to the interpretation of political events, an uncanny prognosticator of political developments and one of the leading authorities on state sponsored terrorism.

As an academic activist, he puts most of the cultural establishment of the United States, and the world, to shame. Our cultural elites are about as good at speaking truth to power as were the elite of Germany leading up to the Nazi period, although I'm sure many imagine an heroic role for themselves, battling fascism, if the threat were to reappear in "our" time.

Not a chance. Most of these people are fascist collaborators, particularly in the sciences.

I have one quibble with Webster and it might have something to do with the Melania Trump business. I understand Webster's fear of a Trump presidency and his vehemence in opposition to Trump, but I would respectfully suggest that this and the coming months are times which demand intellectual cool, artistic creativity, and a (metaphorical only) political killer instinct.

Trump is on the ropes. Let's finish him, but coldly. It's not the time to become part of the mob.

The August 2, 2016 morning briefing asserted that it was widely known that Melania Trump previously worked as an escort and that Mrs. Trump was in fear of revelations that she used to work as an escort. The briefing also stated that multiple unnamed sources stated that Mrs. Trump was in a state of apoplectic tantrum, was suffering from a full-blown nervous breakdown, that both Melania Trump and Donald J. Trump feared the revelations coming to light, and that Mrs. Trump’s condition was negatively affecting the presidential campaign of Donald J. Trump.

Has a certain "ring of truth". I wouldn't doubt these allegations, Melania has been conspicuously absent from the public eye.

Cheer up Melania, how much worse can it get? We already have your nudes, your plagiarized speech, so what's a little "escorting"? No shame there. It's not like you were prostituting!

/sarc...."but not THAT sarcastic"

Nice fairy tale you've got there. On the ropes? Hardly...here's a couple election season tips:

1) Don't trust the MSM narrative because it's pure bullsh*t.

2) Nobody is talking about the key to this election - the silent majority.

I hear you. I'm not sure what prompted Webster's apology and retraction. It may have been a "shot across the bow" from Donald Trump's lawyers.

The title of this thread is a return to gentillesse (kindness) in political discourse. We can make our points and still stay civilized.

What Melania Trump is, is obvious, a beautiful third wife, married to a much older man. I don't think more detail is really necessary in the context of this presidential campaign.

I really despise Donald Trump but I don't think it's okay to use propaganda ever nor perpetuate rumors intentionally and above all people's sex lives should not be used to tarnish or even be discussed unless legalities are involved and since I believe prostitution should be legal it doesn't matter one bit if these rumors about Melania are true or not... that and slut shaming is just wrong, don't care who it is.

Everyone is entitled to his opinion. One of us is going to get the proverbial "rude awakening" on November 8.

Really? Is that ALL the First Lady is, eye candy, an American Trophy Piece?

I'm absolutely with you. I don't think the state should be involved in sexual relationships between consenting adults. I really don't care what consenting adults get up to sexually and, if anything, I tend to admire them for their lack of inhibitions. I think there are "fetishists" with bizarre sexual lives who are healthier, psychologically, than large numbers of the "vanilla" majority.

What an odd interpretation of the events at hand.

You talk about "cultural elites" and "artistic creativity."

Where do u reside? Are you not just a little bit snobby, narcissistic in your so sophisticated political opinions?

Maybe your "academic activists" with all their cool-sophistication can rule this world with purity and grandeur.

Really.

Nude photos can get a girl disqualified from Trump's pageants. Miss America lost her title due to nude photos, so did Miss Nevada in 2006. How much more should we expect from someone vying to be the First Lady of the United States?

Judging from your reply, I'd say that you think Melanie is young and pretty, married to an older man who happens to be running for US president, and that's all that we need to concern ourselves with.

Where I live is none of your business. I gather you don't like me. Join the club.

I really think they should get more involved. They might do a better job than an anti-intellectual thug like Donald Trump. Really.

Are these folks tied to tarpley?

www.inquisitr.com...

They retracted as well... maybe they just jumped on Tarpley's lead?

How many more jumped on this report, it looks like they are jumping ship swiftly to avoid a day in court?

Yeah. That's pretty much it. I'm more interested in the issues. I don't give a rat's fanny about politicians' wives. Of course one of them could be a North Korean agent slyly manipulating the President into sailing California into Korean territorial waters to be seized, but that would be a rarity.

Nice find. The wording of the apologies is very similar. I don't know of any connection to Tarpley but he has been plagued by "impersonators" and mischief makers of a professional sort. He referenced it in one of the WCR programs.

I'm sure what he says is watched by all manner of legal birds of prey.

Kinda makes me wonder who fed Tarpley the info he had to retract, if he was even the original source?

Who knows, dirty politics in action, looks like someone stepped over that fine line ?

I remembered a tweet to the article I alerted, but didn't even know what the material was that was retracted, I still don't, I just thought you would find it interesting that there was more than one retraction...

politics, no matter how much the folks want it to be "above board", is a dirty game....

There were a lot of scurrilous rumors that started when Melania's speech at the RNC was found to have been partially plagiarized. I'm sure this didn't start shady "journalists" digging into her past, (I'm sure they were already on the case, long before Donald Trump decided to run for president, just because of Mr. Trump's notoriety.) but it helped to generate a greater interest in her past, particularly her immigration status back in 1995-96. Maybe Tarpley accumulated some of this information, without thinking it serious enough to check.

At one time there were rumors that the Duchess of Windsor, eventual wife of Edward VIII, of Great Britain (after his abdication), had worked in a brothel in Shanghai.

To me this is all titillating froth. I don't really care about it. Melania Trump is nice to look at, and presentable, and a human being, and every human being has a story. I don't think she has much relevance to this campaign.

I like your sentiment. In times of political heat, cooler heads are needed. Groupthink and tribalism are strong at times like this, and it's all too easy to want to roll in the mud.

According to the news-wire, Melania is launching defamation lawsuits against some in the media.

I guess this is what happened to Webster Tarpley.

www.washingtonpost.com...

Donald Trump has hired the lawyer who helped Hulk Hogan win an invasion-of-privacy case against Gawker and given him a new mission: threaten legal action against several media outlets that picked up a Slovenian magazine's report claiming that Melania Trump worked as an escort in the 1990s.

The website Liberal America on Monday posted a letter it received from Hollywood attorney Charles Harder demanding a retraction and an apology. Politico reported that at least three other news organizations, including London's Daily Mail, received the same notice, which warns that Melania Trump will "institute immediate legal proceedings against you" if her conditions are not met.
