I've been fascinated by these old Catholic chants. Nothing like you'd hear in any church today. It reminds me of wolves howling, just more elaborate. Same basic principle. Wolves practice monophony and polyphony without even knowing it.



I'm interested in all chants, but I really only have knowledge of Catholic and Byzantine songs. If anyone can contribute, I'd be particularly interested in early Islamic chant. Little known fact: Byzantine chant influenced the Islamic, which in turn influenced Western Gregorian and Gothic. The similarities are obvious if you've got a good ear.
