You have NO idea how much GNR meant to 70's folks. GNR gave us back rock and roll. The 80's were full of crap, blues and metal.

I was speaking with a family friend that likes to tell me problems and I asked him if he knew wjphat this cover by David Bowie... even means?

I didn't cry over the mans passing until a couple or so years later, while working in a bakery
He spirit is Wild and free now from public annoyance.
I'll try to find a great cover, I believe he and David Bowie are going to be friends on the flip side of the veil... this cover is great!

Several artists have made a cover of The Yardbirds' "Shapes of Things". IMHO, the best version is by Nazareth.

Sound of Silence. This one surprised me. The original is a classic. But being a metalhead this new version is better. Well produced:

Simon and Garfunkel:

Disturbed:

Kick ass.

I'm not a fan of that cover being a ballad. I wanted a fast heavy screamo version of SoS!

I almost feel bad for posting this one, as i love Richard Thompson's "Vincent Black Lightning 1952" with a passion....but i've recently found this one which i love just as much. A very gritty performance by Sean Rowe....a new musician to my ears.

Stunning cover in my unimportant opinion.....best played with much volume.

Also Maynards version of Bohemian Raphsody

I guess I will go for the most obvious one.

All Along The Watch Tower- Bob Dylan

And, in my opinion, a slightly better version by Jimi Hendrix

Also DMB does a good cover of that song
.

Here's my contribution:

Hell let's throw this one in too:

Umphrey's McGee do some AMAZING covers:
Youtube play list of Umphree's McGee cover songs
Gotta click on the link to listen though since I can't get ATS to link a youtube playlist.

They are also releasing a new cd on the 11th that is a mashup of different cover songs too. Here's a few of them that they've released so far.

As for me, 'True colors" by Phil Collins is a better version than that by Cyndi Lauper
