Good god please switch the brain on :

You do know this is ATS right....

A place where political debate essentially comes down to "I am right and you are wrong..... oooo a link that says i am right"

I totally agree with you as i said in my own first post Spain has its reasons for wanting Scotland to stay as part of the EU.

Spain has its own selfish reasons for wanting to keep Scotland as part of the UK which you have not even spoken about yet

Look at my posts , I have spoken about it.

Also nobody really knows how this would play out but right now it does look like we will have Indy-Reff 2 on the basis of Scotland will stay in the EU.

I am confident that the United Kingdom will stay united.

Lets take a independent Scotland in the EU.

Do you not think that Scotland might still vote to leave?

Sturgeon is an idiot !

She thinks everyone is going to bend over backwards for Scotland !

She got no chance!

I feel for Scotland having her , all the EU are laughing at her more than farage.

No they aren't. In fact when Farage had his strop speech the SNP MEP spoke up for Scotland and the EU parliament gave him a standing ovation.

So you are completely and utterly wrong. Presumably you need to believe you are right as the proverbial hits the fan and starts to fly. You ain't seen nothing yet and with Farage p.ssing the rest of the EU off you can kiss any sweet leave deals goodbye. Diplomacy at it's worst.

Oh and did you catch the EU president asking for : "please calm down you are starting to behave like UKIP" ! Jesus, makes you wonder what kind of behaviour those UKIP MEP's have been displaying on behalf of the UK. Appalling.

They always go on about independent Scotland........................ Let them have it. I have no reason like most Brits to ever set foot in the place and rely on nothing from there so if they want to go good on them. I just can't take on more Salmond/Sturgeon types on my TV. Let em go Mercy
They can have a few old frigates and flintlocks and some mill equipment to start making more kilts

I find posts like this quite funny because I actually believe part of you thinks that you are contribution something intellectual to the political debate.

You are not.

Yes I did farage told them all to shove it !
And they can use him as a smokescreen to cover the fact that Europe is in crisis !

And Scotland won't be in the EU AGAIN EVER !

It will just get vetoed

Good god please switch the brain on :

Spain's position has been consistent for years but you chose to ignore that , sure shout at me from your position of ignorance.

Mr Rajoy said after a summit of EU leaders in Brussels that he wanted to be "very clear Scotland does not have the competence to negotiate with the European Union". He added: "Spain opposes any negotiation by anyone other than the government of United Kingdom. "I am extremely against it, the treaties are extremely against it and I believe everyone is extremely against it. If the United Kingdom leaves... Scotland leaves."

No you said that the EU are laughing at Sturgeon yet yesterday they boo'd Farage then gave the SNP MEP a standing ovation and now today they are in talks with the First Minister when Cameron has been sent home.

So tell me how can you possibly say they are laughing at her.

Rajoys position has been clear, however since his own jacket seems on a fairly shoogly peg then I might choose not to take too much notice of his personal opinion.

And thats why the EU is falling apart and doomed!

They are to busy trying to stick it to Farage and the UK to wake up and smell the bull# they are drowning in!

They should be taking drastic action on reforms and sorting out the worst refugee crisis since WW2.

But no they are just bickering and politicking and getting nothing done AS USUAL.

If the UK leaving didn't wake the EU up nothing will.

Shocking as it is, Scotland is part of the UK. They are therefore bound by collective democracy. The Scottish parliament and Sturgeon has no jurisdiction to negotiate.

The Spanish and French are correct. If the UK leaves, Scotland - as part of the UK - also leave. If Scotland then leaves the UK they do that of their own volition and can join the EU if they so wish. However, there is no guarantee Scotland and ultimately there is no guarantee an independent Scotland would want to join the EU because not all nationalists are slavish followers of EU.

It is likely that - following the SNP instructions - the pro-EU vote in Scotland was more tactical, as the nationalists wanted. If it was run again - without those pesky English Tories in the mix - then I don't think it would be so high.

I mean it is not like there is any precedent for different parts of the same state being in or out of the EU....

A referendum is not really democracy, it's mob rule. It's why we have elected representatives, so the masses, don't make stupid decisions on behalf of the rest of us. It's one of the worst electoral voting systems on offer. Especially, with such a dumbed down illiterate electorate. A phone poll on sky news is probably more accurate reflection of dumbed down Britain.
