Went up on the Buckingham Branch Railroad and CSX's Allegheny Subdivision yesterday. Managed to grab a few shots of Amtrak as myself and a couple of friends of mine were heading back west after a slow, yet busy day along the tracks. First shot is on the Buckingham Branch at Craigsville, Virginia as the westbound Cardinal passes by a classic signal left over from the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway.

Former location of the siding at Craigsville.

After waiting for nearly an hour on a 200 car coal train to clear the fuel pad so they could access the station stop at Clifton Forge. Here we see them making their stop at the former Chesapeake & Ohio depot at Alderson, West Virginia to pick up a couple of passengers.

If you are wondering why I said it was a slow but busy day along the line. There were quite a few speed restrictions where damage from the flooding over Thursday and Friday had been repaired. A portion of main one between Lewisburg, WV and White Sulphur Springs is still out of service as work continues on this massive near wash out between W.S. Cabin and Caldwell.

Hello Kaelci Sweetie! I'm not sure what I will do with this character just yet. I swear, I go into my stories with an empty mind sometimes and then I put on some mood music and all of a sudden everything comes tumbling out. LOL

OMG Quantum, your son is so adorable!!!! How far away does he live from you? Why can't you see him? There are laws and you have rights as a Father. By law, she can only move so many miles away from you and you have every right to see that boy!

Hiya Rider! I would surely die in those temperatures! YUM that quiche looks awesome!!! I have one named after me. Quiche Lorraine. LOL

a reply to: gimmefootball400 Hey Chooch, I love trains. I have an H O gauge set frm the 60s. Some time Im gonna tell you about how I drove the Calavaras cement train when I was about 8 years old. My schoolmated didnt believe me until I presented pictures a couple weeks later. I drove it all the way down from the hills to the valley controlling the speed and the horn before all intersections. It was a big train with lots of cars. Maybe Ill put dad on producing some pics. Might take a while. Hes pushing 90 now. He has a train collection too

Yeah. Me and him used to play with them in the garage. He buit a big track on plywood. It had all the crossing guards and switched rails and lights. His transformer was real big and very old. I think his set wasnt HO guage, they were larger. He still has them, the big track is gone though

You guys should poke around some antique shops together, if he is able. You just might find some cool old trains and tracks.

a reply to: Night StarHe has his routine now that Mom is gone. He has his chihuahua that he hangs out with. She even sleeps on the bed with him. They go out and do a little gardening in the morning. Come in and take a nap. Then he paints. Our old living room is his work space. He does acryllic, and oil paintings. And some gold leaf. He is really quite good. He was a research scientist, and still does that as a hobby. He reads many books, and does advanced math. Its way over my head. He likes his home and doesnt like to get out much. Mom used to make him take us on vacations back in the day, and I could see he wanted to be home in his library, and garden

Your Dad sounds like a very interesting and creative man! Do you have any pics of his paintings? I always wanted to be an artist. Though I do many craft projects and make jewelry, I never could paint. I always pictured how nice it would be to sit by the ocean with a canvas and a chair just sitting there and painting and maybe selling artwork in some gallery in a touristy seaside town.

Can the Sheddites please unite and make a post for reldra whos Mom is in the hospital with septic pneumonia?

Sorry!!! I have a really bad tendency about sneaking up on people from behind.
I would say that I would love to be a professional photographer but that would take the fun out of it. Even though I would get paid for it.....

a reply to: Quantum12

I already do that. Why do you think I post videos to youtube?

I got the chance years ago when I was growing up to ride in a locomotive while it was switching cars at one of the yards around here. Didn't hurt at the time that my dad knew one of the regional big wigs for here at the time. In the post 9-11 world that we live in. You don't stand a snowball's chance in Hell of getting a cab ride now.

That is true, it would take the fun out of it. I remember when I sold crafts on consignment in a little country shop in another town. It was always, "I need a half dozen more of these and a dozen of those..." I was working full time and doing these hand made items that took quite a bit of my time. I was exhausted and it took the joy right out of making those items.

That's just one of the reasons why I never really thought about doing photography on a professional level. I know a few people that do it professionally but I really don't see myself doing that.

On top of all that......... I'm on a music kick tonight. A country music kick that is!

One of my favorite songs by them.....

Not much of a country music fan, but John Denver had some nice tunes.
