How about Obama's call to ban people on the FBI Terrorist Watchlist from purchasing guns? To me, that seems like a no-brainer decision but the moment anyone even begins to suggest adding this small restriction to close a major loophole in gun control laws people go apesh*t crazy.

So you'd prefer a secure society over a free society.

You can't have both.

Oh, so someone who posts here is the 700 Club host. I got it. You weren't just randomly attacking people here.

You were responding to the ATS Super Moderator, correct?
Just trying to follow the discussion.

Just pick their 2 biggest cities and turn them to ash.
Any innocents there are in hell anyway.

This makes you different from terrorists...how?

Well, I'd target them because of their hatred for me and those of my society that they keep wanting to kill, they target us merely because they hate our not being islamic nutters.

You're advocating the use of terror to achieve a goal.

THAT'S terrorism.

The only religion relevant to the topic is Islam.

Ya know that religion that has a rich tradition of racism, bigotry, and intolerance, a horrendous track record of women's, and gay rights.

Ya know the motivation behind gunning people down in that night club.

But what do i know.

Because no Christian EVER has used Christianity to justify racism, bigotry, intolerance, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, antisemitism, or the like.

Not exactly what I was getting at.
The terror resulting from wiping out 2 cities in a split second may just wake up those who would offer succour to these nutters and thus deny them a place to rest.

That's hard to say. You are basically relying on them being like the Japanese were in WWII because two bombs is what it took. Otherwise, they were seriously willing to pretty much die to the smallest child with sticks and stones. It would have been the ugliest, most horrific thing. And we'd likely today be arguing about whether or not the invasion of Japan was a justified thing or an atrocity like we argue about the atomic bombs.

I don't know if you can argue that the Japanese mindset and the Islamic one are comparable.

Not the real nutters, no. But the ones on the cusp will not be wanting any of them to share their town after...

Husband just read a post on facebook ... think about this ...

Imagine being an investigator in the nightclub looking at all the bodies where they fell and having to tune out the sound of all their phones ringing constantly as loved ones try to reach out to them.

I think I need to go cry a bit.

What do you think a background check consists of? They make sure you have no prior criminal record. They MIGHT verify your work history and they MIGHT verify you have no history of mental illness. That's about it....

The only place that goes FURTHER than that is the government.

The San Bernardino terrorists had no prior criminal record. They had a good work history whose co-workers even threw them a baby shower. Also, there was no record of mental illness.

How much further should the government go? The only thing that makes sense is that if you are from a muslim country, are muslim, or are first-generation children born to immigrant parents from those regions, then...no approval.

That was state government...and California at that. That isn't what I was referring to when I said only the government goes further. I meant federal government...and it is also dependent on which position you are applying for. For example, the ABC agencies go a LOT farther in their background checks. They interview anyone and everyone who has ever known you, been your neighbor, or whatever. You are also required to take multiple polygraph tests...and even TRYING to apply counter measures on a polygraph means automatic dismissal. THAT is what I call an extensive background check.

Most states have a background check requirement for armed security. And as I said before, it consists of checking for prior history but rarely anything more than that.

Does anyone have anything other than red herrings ?

We are talking about the Orlando shooting.

The 'worst' terrorist attack on US soil since 911.

Is no only that but the fact that Islam is a set of laws and to worship Islam is to accept the laws that comes with the religion.

Do you guys understand the difference, between being against something, and KILLING PEOPLE?

Are you so determined to bash on Christianity for no apparent reason, since it's not connected to this shooting at all. Why not focusing on Islam, and the tendency of its followers for mass murdering innocent people in the name of allah?

Do you know when was the last time Christians killed in the name of Jesus? Over 800 years ago. Then maybe, your argument would be valid.

No, it's retaliation, vengeance. It's what we have armed forces for. To visit violence upon our enemies.

The isis high ups don't care how many shooters and bombers die. They sit safe in their walled compounds etc. Only by destroying them utterly will this end.

this is the weirdest thing to watch the apologists continue the rhetoric even withstanding the largest mass shooting ever on american soil and the largest Islamic terrorist attack since 9/11.

Funny, they often speak of vengeance and retaliation for actions of the West when they do something.

No. They Don't.

That's a deflection. The weakest form of argument there is.

They are TRYING to make ATS posters seem worse than some SNIP that killed 50 people.

As you know, the T&C gets enforced.

That does't stop peoples beliefs though. Nor does it stop them reading this as a non member.

Not does it remove those who would say one thing, and believe another.

Fact is, its an ugly world.

When a white guy commits a mass shooting, he's mentally unstable/ill.

When a person of colour commits a mass shooting, they are a religious fanatic and a terrorist.
