Beautiful pics--as one would expect from National Geographic.

.
photography.nationalgeographic.com...#/sandstone-colors_9402_600x450.jpg
.

You can "save image as" when you click on "Get Wallpaper" button with each pic.

Subjects:

--Lichen on Slate
--Ertale Lava Lake
--Coyote Buttes Sandstone

--Crystal Patterns [looks like agate, to this layman]
--Erupting Cone [Mt Etna--thought it looked like Etna then I read the caption. LOL]

--Rope Lava, Hawaii
--Rock Swirls [Moab, Utah

--Painted Hills, Oregon
--Molton Lava, Etna

[some pics would not load about here]

--Patterned Rock [Point Lobos State Reserve, CA]
--Rocks, CA [same place]

--Petra Sandstone [Jordan]
--Swirls of Lava, Hawaii

--Boiling Lava, Etna
--Mauna Ulu Vent, Hawaii

To my taste, approximately 70-80% were worth saving as wallpaper shots. Mileage may vary!

Anyway--if you enjoy such things--the link is worth clicking.

If you have similar pics from your travels, please share them!

No matter how hard we try, Man can never create something as colorful and beautiful as Nature just casually throws out there. For years, I've tried to get a paint match for a leaf from a peach tree, just when they turn that reddish yellow, but no one has yet to get it right.

INDEED.

That's fascinating . . . even with all the scanning/color matching technology.

I assume you've tried Lowe's.

Color is such an incredible and complex world. Texture, as well.
