I don't know the demographics of this board, I know mostly American, but there are some of us Europeans here too I think.

And I think maybe even Americans may be interested in some things that are happening in Europe now. Seeing as there is war in Europe. Crazy things going on. And you know, if/when full war happens in Europe, considering all the American military installations in Europe, you guys are gonna be involved. In some way.

I posted a couple of news links in political news, because I can't post in alternative news, but is that the best forum for it?

If I was boss of ATS I would put in Euro news section, but unfortunately I am not boss of ATS. Not yet.

I have been asking for something like this (a uk madness forum) for over a year and despite the idea being popular it's yet to be started up. We have a pets forum but not a uk/Europe forum. It's pretty disgraceful considering uk members are the second largest group on ATS

I think the most appropriate current forum is "Regional Politics", which you will find in the "Offtopic" half of the site.
"Regional" means "Regions of the world outside the United States".
It seems to have originated as a merger of "UK politics" and "Canadian politics" forums.

I agree. Given the state of affairs in Europe, an EU Madness Forum is a must. I follow European politics and am always baffled by the way so many Americans view things from a strictly American point of view. An EU Forum would give them a broader perspective they might not get if they relied on the English language media and blogosphere.

I think we deserve a uk/Europe madness forum that sits next to the American political madness forum not on BTS

I have wished for forum of European issues too, i have so much to say about current situation in Europe, political, disinformation fed to us etc etc.
I am sure forum like that would bring a lot of new readers and make ATS even better. Earth is round and not one sided.

A fair point, so my comment was only about the best option in the current set-up.

I think they could at least upgrade the regional politics forum to from the off topic section.

A little insulting to think that European politics is deemed on the same level of importance as pets and cooking.

Agreed, the most important vote in generations is happening in the UK in June and it's in the same forums section as pets!

Perhaps we should all start posting in 'Political Issues' from now on and boycott the regional politics forum?

I take a great interest in Europe, and from what I have read, Europe is governed by idiots, pets and food are far more interesting, and don't invite invaders who want to ruin their country.

I am not sure that the rulers of European countries are idiots as as such as they would not be able to rise to such levels of power without a great deal if intelligence.

Self serving, devious and corrupt maybe but stupid not.

As to not inviting invaders that wish to ruin their respective countries there are a few members who would disagree that point and maybe a little more research on this would leave you better informed.

I honestly think it's because European politics is not stupidly entertaining as our's. You gotta admit, it's a 3 ring circus over here. And everyone loves the circus. We got clowns, jugglers, fire breathers and a magician who can make 3 hairs look like a full rug. All in the same tent. What could be more fascinating?

I'm in the US but when browsing international news sites I always click on global news or local news to skip over getting automatically assigned US news based on my location. If ATS had a UK and/or Europe news forum it would help members get a better idea of topics trending globally.

OK,
WHY does it have to be Euro politics?

What the heck is wrong with just stuff interesting and different? Everything in the world doesn't revolve around politics!
hey you say, thatching and lace making is a dying art?
LOVE to hear about it!!

Badgers are becoming a nuisance in the Midlands??
You don't SAY!!!

I swear I learnt more interesting things watching that UK show about "who's your ancestors" or some such about tracing genealogy than I have in fathoming UK politics.

Quit selling yourselves short and trying to compete with politics. Currently the US has the insanity sewn up with our little $*it show. Onwards to more fascinating information.

What's a Geordie-boy?
Inquiring minds and all....

Eu politics and the madness in EU pretty much walk hand in hand. It includes decisions made in EU parliament, taxing and pretty much everything we deal in our daily lives. If politics are not telling you how much you pay and where your money go.. what is then ? Why EU politicians are trying to force laws which allow corporate shareholders hide their involvements in companies, their shares so that they do not have to pay taxes ? Connecting dots to see bigger picture ?

Yes i am intrested in genealogy as well but genealogy does not give me these answers.

we have nigel farage who goose steps while fire breathing and impersonating peter sellars from dr strangelove fighting his nazi salute.

a uk forum would be nice, however like trump, the hard right would astroturf it in defence of ukip every time they show themselves up.

That all sounds rather defeatist though don't you think?
As far as I see things we have a pretty mixed bag of left/center/right among UK members.
Myself I don't really fit into any label, I'm all for social housing, and comfortable benefits for those who are unable to work, I'm even up for an increase in my taxes if it was earmarked for the NHS and social care, but as soon as I say I want controls over EU immigration same as we control those from outside the EU, the cries of 'right wing' come out.

I think the 'right/left wing' label is a lame distraction at best, most people tend to agree and disagree with different policies from different leanings.
...but on topic, yep, a Euro politics forum would be something I support. Ain't gonna happen though, the creation of the pets forum when the requests have been made for years was flicking the finger at the European members as far as I saw it.

You missed my point....all news is not necessarily political.
It's much more encompassing than that. I for one would be interested in more, not just another political section.

If we Brits had our way(and ATS is British by the way, do your research
) We would have a politics forum, a North vs South forum, a why everyone mocks the Welsh forum, A whinging Scots forum and a biscuit forum to name but a few.

You could learn a lot from us, we have a long history of talking bollocks.
