I say we take off and nuke the entire Caribbean from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Im a teacher in colombia. Several of my students, in recent months, contracted Zika.

They missed a few classes with flu like symptoms..

Zika is a bit overhyped imo..

Zika is not worst than dengue that also attacks the nervous system I had it when I was a teen and we all survived, my mother had the mutation on the hemorrhagic kind in the 80s was quarantine and survived.

Zika has been in my Island of PR and nobody is dying in record numbers, my family members in the Island had it and all it gives them is a rash and is not as severe as the dengue.

The only cases in the US so far are from people that come to the US infested.

So Zika is just another virus and we will live with it.

Hmmm All out WAR??? or just take some common sense medical/safety precautions and send some aid and help with logistics and medical issues? Plan B seems to make more sense.

We can't just declare war on everything.

It is interesting to see that zika like all viruses in our modern day originated from Africa, it makes me wonder.

In terms of biology Zika virus is a member of Flaviviruses type which also causes Dengue,Yellow Fever,West Nile,Chikungunya. The first confirmed case of Zika virus was reported in 1947 in in a monkey in Zika forest of Uganda (Africa) which gave it the name Zika and in 1952 first confirmed case of human infection came into light in Nigeria. Soon cases were reported from Asia and Europe as well but they were not alarming in number. However in 2007 a significant number of patients were reported in Brazil and since then it has been on a rise.

Is interesting that we in my Island have all these viruses and so far life goes on as usual, you get sick create antibodies and that is the end of it, we survive them just fine.

What worries me is how much human intervention has been behind the viruses infecting humans.

Big pharma can not survive if is no new diseases to work and profit from.
