Hello All,

My first synchronicity, was when I had joined the military to play trumpet and piano in the band. My recruiter lied about how to get into the band, so I never actually played in the band. Even after passing auditions on the piano and trumpet for the Third Armor Division Band. The band master sent his letter of request to transfer me, to the Department of the Army. But they refused to transfer me. Claiming it was because I had received a bonus to be on tanks. So I offered to pay back every penny of the bonus I had received, if they would transfer me. No dice. So I was left an M1A1 tanker, counting down days.

Then within probably 4 months of my release. The first Persian Gulf Crisis hits. So they put a stop loss policy into place. Which meant I was not getting out of the military indefinitely. Then I get my orders to deploy to the Persian gulf. I applied for conscientious objector status, being the son of a minister that didn't believe in killing. That was denied, because it was "during" war time. Then I asked to be a driver for our first sgt., or company commander. That was denied as well.

I was the gunner on a tank at this point, and I didn't want to have killing people on my conscious for the rest of my life. I had also found a book in the book store on our post called Unholy Babylon. I was reading it while we were in the field training. But in that book, I had read about how Saddam had requested a meeting with April Glaspie, who was our ambassador to Iraq at the time.

When she met with him. He basically told her, look Iraq just got done fighting this 8 year war for the United States against Iran, to stop the Islamic revolution from spreading across the middle east. Many of our people have died, many of our families are in shambles, and our economy is in shambles as well because of it.

Now on top of that, Kuwait has been stealing our oil. So we want to invade Kuwait because of that, and get our oil back from them. What is the United States position on that? April Glaspie told Saddam, that the United States didn't have a position on Iraq invading Kuwait. So Saddam ordered his troops in, and as a result. The United States wanted to go to war with Iraq, to get them out of Kuwait.

On top of that, I knew the Iraqi soldiers were being coerced onto the battlefield to fight against me, with threats against their families and loved ones if they didn't do as ordered. Meanwhile I joined an "all volunteer army", and yet I am being forced to go and fight on this battlefield against these same Iraqis. So yeah, I had a major problem with what the army was trying to force me to do.

So what did I do? While I was out in the field training to go to war. I prayed to God, and I basically said. If you're up there and you exist. Then I don't think you approve of what they are trying to force me to do here. I don't want to kill soldiers that are being forced by their government to try and kill me. Especially not over oil, and I don't think that you do either. But the only way out of this that I can see, is for me to go AWOL from the military. That is a huge step, a huge leap. Once I go down that road, there is no turning back.

But if that's what you really want me to do. If you really want me to go AWOL, so that this can't be forced to happen. Then you need to give me a serious sign here, and I'm not talking just any sign. This has got to be a slap me in the face, there's no way I could question whether this is a sign meant for me, kind of sign.

Within a couple of days of asking for it. We were still out in the field training to go to war. I finally got a chance to go to the px, which I think was the only time I went to it the entire time we were training. So this was not even close to a normal occurrence. The px was basically like a small convenience store, with a few booths around the edges etc. But it was all by itself in the middle of this giant field/training area.
It's cold outside, so when I walk in. I'm just wanting to sit and relax, and take my gear off etc.. So that's what I do. I started looking around, and notice that they had European MTV playing on a tv. This also was rare, because I had been in the military right at 3 years, and we had just gotten cable tv in the barracks that I lived in on post. So them having cable tv in the middle of nowhere, kind of shocked me. So I started watching the videos, and back to back to back played 3 distinctly anti war songs.

I still remember two of them. Which were When Two Tribes Go To War by Frankie Goes To Hollywood (Which I didn't remember ever hearing before, as I didn't own any of their music.) The other song was Bruce Springsteen singing War What Is It Good For. But after that happened, I knew that was the sign that I had requested. I was a musician that had joined the military to play in the band, and there I was being communicated with via music. Anti war songs, while I'm preparing to fight in a war. So I just looked up and said thank you!

The day I went AWOL. I got up that morning and open up the door to go outside, and you couldn't see more than 20 yards because the fog was so thick. Which was also rare. I had to fly out of Luxembourg, so as to try and evade detection. Which meant I had to abandon my car at the airport when I left. Never to see it again. But due to the fog, I had safe passage without getting detected all the way to Luxembourg. Then I flew back to the United States.

The first day back, I was carrying a very heavy keyboard case over my head down some stairs. The case ended up hitting the wall that was coming down in front of me, which I couldn't see because it's view was blocked by the length of the case on my head. I got knocked off balance, and tried to put my foot down on the next stair, but slipped instead. The keyboard case ended up landing on my arm on top of the stairs, and broke it. No joke. I was so mad! I had gotten from Germany to Luxembourg, to Iceland, then New York, then finally Colorado without being detected. Then first thing that happens when I get there, is I break my arm! I couldn't understand it.

But when I settled down, is when it dawned on me. If my arm was broken. I would be able to turn myself back in, and they wouldn't be able to ship me to the middle east and force me to fight as they had planned. So after being AWOL for 10 days, I turned myself in. (It was Christmas time, so I didn't do it right away.) But when I did, I was told that I was facing 13 years in military prison. For going AWOL during war time.

I was flown back to Germany. But a second Congressional inquiry had been started on my behalf, into my recruiters conduct when I had been recruited, while all of this was going on. The inquiry came back right before my hearing. As a result I was given 30 days extra duty, 30 restricted to the barracks etc.. But I ended up getting out of the Army with an Honorable Discharge when all was said and done.
As a result, I don't question signs and synchronicities. I know from experience, that they led and protected me through all of this.

Peace,
TomSawyer

You made the right choice, because most of the wars we have been in have been NWO wars rather than wars for the protection of this country. Let our fearless Globalist Leaders go fight their own wars at their own expense.
The tax payers should not be on the hook for wars that go beyond protecting this country.

April Glaspie basically gave Saddam the Green Light to invade Kuwait because higher ups wanted a regime change in Iraq because Saddam was not playing ball with the Globalists.

You're free to say whatever you want. I've had to live with this for the past 26 years of my life. So I seriously doubt anyone has anything to say to me, that I haven't already heard.

But that's an interesting topic in and of itself. The responses to this has literally been all over the board, and probably not what you would expect. I was basically blackballed by all of my high school "friends" as a result. But when I contacted my platoon sgt., and told him that I was sorry if I had let him down. His response was that he didn't hold it against me one bit, and that he hated when the military screwed over good soldiers.

I even went to a BBQ a couple of years later, with a few of the guys I had served with, that they invited me to. When they were all serving at Ft. Carson here in Colorado. They told me that they didn't hold it against me one bit either. In fact they said, that I should be glad that I did what I did. My division was part of the surprise sweep attack that went in behind their troops. Because of the speed of the tactic, they were unable to process prisoners during the maneuver. They said Iraqi soldier after Iraqi soldier, would come out of their fox holes with their hands raised in front of them. Some smiling, some waving white flags etc.. But they were ordered to shoot, so they did. They even went as far as to describe watching these soldiers, basically being cut in half due to the caliber of weapons that were being used.

So not to be rude about it. But I could care less what anyone says or thinks at this point. I know for a fact, that I definitely would not want that image burned into my brain, and have to carry it around with me for the rest of my life. Especially if I had been the one that had fired the shot. The people that knew me, and the ones I truly abandoned in my actions understood, and held no ill will towards me. They are the only ones that even come close to mattering, when it comes to what they think in my mind.

Peace,
TomSawyer

Wait a sec. you joined the US ARMY so you could play in the BAND????? So you thought the US ARMY was the Philadelphia Harmonic? And you were actually a "conscientious objector"?

Good Lord. What world do you live in? Is your name Manning?

Ever heard of Glenn Miller? Or seen those ads on Craigslist where they say things like "wanna play music for a living". Crawl back under your rock ya wiseacher!
Yes the army really does have several bands!

Here's a "funny" fact. The first time I had a suspicion that something wasn't right. Was when I was getting on the military bus to drive onto Ft. Knox on the first day. I got on and sat down, then a guy got on after me with a trumpet case in his hand! I'm trying to process this, and the next thing I know, several drill sgts. are surrounded us, all screaming at the top of their lungs at the same time. Man that was a culture shock!
Someone should tell them to all yell in unison, so you can understand what their screaming!

I was there too.

THAT was what I did it was one of my best skills H2h from bar fights and Martial arts OH YES I was there to fight.
My father was a USAF officer so naturally MY world view is different but BRAGGING on a forum about a crime is really not cool.
I am however thankful you got out of the way,I was NOT in charge of WHY ,that was from Bush (Satan's favorite Oligarch)
I Now know far more from the internet about the evils done.
So what?
It wasn't as if OUR military WANTED to perform evil ,just to fight for America. THAT is MY only take from it.
WE did our jobs EXTREMELY well when they set up Saddam, but I guess that's what happened when you wanted to sell oil without the US dollar. Then Invade a neighbor after the duplicitous US says"WE don't care".
IN THAT war we took the 4th largest army on Earth down in about 4 months. It has always MYSTIFIED me why they don't do the rest like that war.

You saw what you wanted to see. Music videos or a fly landing on your nose, it would have made no difference at that point. You had made up your mind and anything would be a "sign" you could use as an excuse.

So you join an organization like the United States Army and maybe getting deployed to a war did'nt even cross your mind?

It's like when 9/11 happened and I was stationed in Germany as a tanker also. There were so many guys that had been in since the Clinton years that were freaking out. Saying stuff like, "man I just did this for the college money".

Exactly my feelings after reading this story..

He said to God, "Then you need to give me a serious sign here, and I'm not talking just any sign. This has got to be a slap me in the face, there's no way I could question whether this is a sign meant for me, kind of sign."

Noticing a few anti-war music videos on MTV are hardly an unquestionable, deeply personal, slap in the face from God.. Tom was looking for something to read into, and found exactly what he needed, no external influence required at all..

To those who have faith in a personal, omnipotent, interventionist God, literally anything can fit as evidence for Him/It, and other explanations are irrelevant: To conclude that the event probably had nothing to do with any kind of personal God and can be explained naturally, is contrary to their belief and faith, unacceptable, and offensive.

You know, this reminds me of when I joined the military. I was a preachers kid. So I was somewhat reserved, and naive as well. But I wasn't like those guys in basic training either. They knew something was different by the way that I acted. So when it came to choosing what it was that made me different. Some of the guys came to the conclusion that I must be gay.

So a couple of them one day, asked me flat out if I was gay. Now you can choose to believe this or not. Again I really don't care what you believe. But I had no background, to even know what gay was. I had only known one person in my life, that people had called gay. It was a guy that had gone to my high school. But he wasn't in any of my classes etc.. So I really didn't have any social interactions directly with him. But from observing him talk with other students. The only things I noticed that were different about him, were the way he talked, and some of his mannerisms. I had no clue about the sexual aspect of being gay. Or that being gay meant that you love men, etc..

So being that that was my background. I told them no, because in my mind. If I didn't know what it was, and I wasn't like the guy I had "known" in high school. Then I'm probably not gay, whatever that was. But you know what happened? They didn't believe me either. I acted different than everyone else, so I must be gay was their mindset. So they spread the rumor among all of the other recruits that I was in basic training with that I was gay. Even though I wasn't gay, I was treated as if I was.

To make matters worse. I was in a cohort unit. That meant two things. My basic training and AIT were combined. So that meant 4 months of this torment from all of them. Rather than just basic training, which would have been what normally would have taken place. on top of that. Since we were a cohort unit. That meant that we all went to the same permanent duty station together as well. Same battalion, same companies, same platoons on down the line. So guess what happened when we got to our permanent duty station. Somehow the rumor got started there as well. While all of this was going on, no one would believe me. Even though the only evidence that they had, was that I acted different than them. I didn't talk like I gay person, I was reserved. I also didn't have the mannerisms of a gay person. But I was convinced that I was there temporarily, due to what my recruiter had told me. So I would be in the band soon anyways. Then that didn't happen.

So this really is a lot like being in basic training all over again. All of the guys judging me, even though they were completely wrong. But hey, who cares right? If you can't tell by the way that I communicate, in what I say, and how I think. That I am different, then all of you that see fit to pass judgement on me here. Then you're blind. I actually cared about the Iraqi troops that were going to get slaughtered, and I didn't want any part of it. Especially when I hadn't joined to kill people. But I'm wrong, right? I should have just gone over there and done what I was being forced to do, right? Then don't claim it's an all volunteer army anymore, because that would be a flat out lie. Don't say things like we went over there to fight, to protect your freedoms to protest.

I wanted to serve my country, and even the army in the end said in the end that I had served Honorably, even after I had gone AWOL. Here's another "funny" fact. When I was finally able to get out of the military. Kind of on a lark, because I wanted to see what they would say. I asked if I could re-up in the army band now. Bearing in mind I had already passed the auditions on trumpet and piano once. You know what I was told? No. If you want to re-up, you can re-up, you can stay on tanks, or you can join the special forces. Do you get that? They wanted me to stay in. Even after I had gone AWOL during war time. So when my platoon sgt. says, "I hate it when the military screws over good soldiers", and the military wanted me to re-up even after going AWOL. I think that's enough evidence, that I must have been a pretty good flippin' soldier. Don't you think? I do.

and to those who want to poo poo the sign that I received. I was in the middle of a training area in the middle of nowhere. Surrounded by a bunch of guys who could smell blood, and were acting accordingly. I was surrounded by the anticipation of war, etc.. So there weren't a who;e lot of ways for God to get a sign to me. What did you expect? One of the guys that I served with, to suggest that I go AWOL? What other forms of communication was I around, to even receive a sign going completely against my surroundings? Whatever........

Peace,
Tom Sawyer

Are you suggesting the power and influence of God are limited by the fundamental physical laws of nature?

He/It's God, there should in fact be an unlimited multitude of ways for God to get a sign to you, but unless you define what a sign is or isn't before it occurs, we have no idea what a sign would constitute in the first place.

He/It could have done any number of miraculous things that would leave no doubt to an observer that it was a message from Him/It, (the bible has plenty examples of such things), but instead He/It took the somewhat ambiguous option of throwing a few anti-war songs on MTV to coincide with you looking at the tv..

What

As you so rightly say

ever........

The only thing that makes this a sign from God and not just a normal coincidence, is your own subjective bias and desire to see such a sign.. This is confirmation bias at its most fundamental.

I'll leave your thread before I upset you any further, it has become very apparent that opposing views and dissenting opinions are offensive to your faith.

If only you would have done that, before you decided to post over here twice. Oh well, hind sight is 20/20. This thread is not to debate the validity of synchronicities. That's what your thread was for, which I gave up on, and left you alone to believe what you want. But you just had to bring that debate over to this thread as well. It's not the opposing views that are offensive, it's you!

Feel free to return to my thread or pm me to continue the debate, I'm unsure why you decided to give up..

If this thread is only here to garner support for your own faith and belief from others who share your ideas, you should have probably set this out in your op.. I was under the impression you were sharing a synchronistic experience for our consideration and evaluation.

I apologise for critiquing your "sign" and justifications for it. I'll leave your thread and superstitious beliefs in peace now. I only wish to share one final thing:

"If some are happy to let evidence-free beliefs rule their lives, so be it, but they have no right to expect the collaboration of others".
