A friend stopped by this morning to print some papers, and in the process commented that she was surprised how few apps were on my iPad.

"You're using 10% of its potential!" she exclaimed.

I mostly use it to access the Internet for browsing; listen to podcasts; and to access Texture, an app with hundreds of magazines available.

So what am I missing, everyone? What apps can't you live without?

The only third party app I use regularly is Flipboard , some phones come preloaded with it these days but if you don't have it I would recommend it.

I like Yelp since I travel a lot and it helps find decent places to eat, Whatsap so I can make overseas calls without getting killed on charges and Concur for my expense reports.

I have that on my laptop, but we now have a box that hooks directly to the TV, so no more streaming on my devices.

I like yelp just for the entertainment. There aren't a huge amount a restaurants where I am, and it's easy to figure out who the disgruntled customers are.

This explains it better than I can , it's a useful and easy to use news aggregator.

Google sky map. Point your phone at the sky and it says what stars, constellations and planets your looking at. Change the filters to see only what you want. Android only though.

I really dont use any apps except Google Maps on my Android phone . Other than browsing the web , I use what ever photo app that came preloaded and WatchOn app on my Samsung tablet to control my TV .

Oh , I too like Yelp to read disgruntled customer complaints .

That is about it . I am not really interested in my electronic devices "potential".

Android Apps:

Merriam-Webster Dictionary

GasBuddy: finds best gas stations nearby both for top tier gas and prices.

Flashlight

CamScanner: when you need to send a quick scan of something, take a picture and it turns it into a scanned doc. Pretty good actually

Signal: Encrypted text messaging. It encrypts the messages on your phone and sends encrypted texts when the other user also has the app

ESPN: sends updates/news/final scores (however you set it up, I just do scores) of your favorite teams

Strelok: Ballistics calculator for the gun range

IPSC Shot Timer (beta): another good training tool for the shooting range.
