The fact we don't bleat and make a fuss is maybe WHY the goverment keep targeting our income group.....

I don't bleat because I choose to be self-employed and lawfully avoiding tax is easy.
You choose to be an employee, and as most employees do, you bleat.

Why hipocrasy?

As it stood there was a legal way for you claim back travel expenses as a contractor, if as we suggested you became self employed you would be able to legally claim that expense and more.

You seem angry and we are offering you a solution.

The fact that Gos is off work and bored and as such winding you up is I think clouding your judgement.

Irrelevant wether you or I get our money employed or self employed of we both could get hit by the same tax hit.

Rather than be divided would it not be better to actually just stand united against the goverment?

Lol, yeah sorry man, I am taking the piss a bit while chilling with my cat and a brandy or two.
Seriously though, set up a consultancy as a sole trader, then if you make a loss on mobile phone, internet, fuel, stationary etc etc etc you will get it back from the tax you pay under PAYE every April when you do your self assessment.

...me, I'm way past that with a limited company and other such lawful off-shore schemes, but if you want an easy way to get a couple of grand back each year then go down the self assessment road.
You'll never hear me whinging about Google and Amazon paying # all tax because I do the same, and everyone can if they want to. If it's legal then I'll do it, and it's up to the government who write the rules.
Stop being a victim and empower yourself.

I disagree, in my experience employees are the biggest whingers who expect others to make their lives better.
I spend hours on my administrative stuff, and the government is my opponent, I love the game, and usually win every April.

But why?

1. Plain old jealousy. Obviously if you're dirt poor, anything else is going to look good. Many of the dirt poor (not entirely unreasonably in every case) believe that they never had a chance and they're just plain bitter about it.

2. Socialism/Marxism/whateveryoucallit. As long as there is a healthy middle class, Marxism cannot get it's foot in the door. They have to destroy the middle class before they can do anything else. Happy, comfortable people don't hate the system. It's sabotage. It really is that simple (IMO). This is why all of this is happening.

There is a certain satisfaction in using the rules they implemented to benefit themselves and make us pay all the tax against them isn't there

Honestly Ewok when you have calmed down look into the self employed consultant route, I know a few that did it and ended up working less earning more and paying less tax.

It is also pleasant to say your in the office when you are in fact in your office at home with an ice cold beer and ATS...

Then play the game, don't get angry find another solution mate, you can't change the rules you need to find which ones will still bend.

That's what the goverment count on!

Fact is if you make enough noise you can change things or at least stop bad ideas!

Look at the fiasco of the child tax credits! Public outrage forced the goverment to back down, at least for now. Camron and Osborne don't have a back bone between them!

I think your going to struggle to fight this one to be truthful.

Not enough people will be affected and the rest will not care, those above couldn't give a crap and those below you will resent you for being middle class and think you should pay more tax anyway.

Which begs the queation of why should I be resented?

Plus the # that hits my small group has a habit of trickling down to the lower groups anyway.

Whinging but not playing the lawful tax avoidance game - priceless

I am not saying that it is right just that people will not care as you are doing alright, single bloke on 50k plus a year might have to pay a grand extra in tax?

Go tell a forklift driver or some bloke stacking the shelves in Tesco and see if he cares.

He will more than likely grin like a Cheshire cat.

Which is short sighted and foolish.

There is not much diffrence between ME and the lower earners except a slightly nicer car, one holiday a year, mortgage instead of rent for likley a similar size house and I get my shopping via tesco not lidle .

I have more in common with the minimum wage earners than a million or billionaire.

That's why the left FAIL in this country. They are too busy focusing on the harmless groups like ME rather than attacking the real culprits.

Bollocks, when did you last fret about having to top up a pre-pay gas key with a tenner you really need?
You are making yourself out some kind of poor victim and I say that's bull#.

I know plenty of people on minimum wage who struggle every day but don't whinge like you do.
Lame.

O shut up and stop trolling.

I never said I was a victim or as worse off.

Just that the gulf between me and the lower earners is much much smaller than the gulf between me and some million or billionaire.

which is beside the point anyway in that they are attacking the wrong people.
