" I can hear her calling my name. Over and over. It's nice to be outside'', he thought to himself.
Charlie liked his sense of freedom, ''I'm not her baby anymore. Doesn't she realize how old I am?''
'' I'm old enough to go out whenever and wherever for however long I want''
Wind started whipping and a gentle rain started.
''There is her hollering again. This is embarrassing'' Charlie didn't budge until the rain stopped.

Back home Maggie just moped around after making frantic phone calls and smoking a lot of tobacco.
The pain and sadness, is pushed into the recesses of her being. She puts on a happy face and pretends there is nothing wrong.

Charlie remembers where to get a good meal and a warm dry place to relax. Finally he heads home.

The meow at the door brings relief and happy tears to Maggie's eyes. '' My baby's home! Oh my darling Charlie, you came home to mommy!''

"I know you love me mommy'' and Charlie speaks in his language... ''Purr purr purr''
