the world-as-we-knew-it might well crash down on the Pacific Northwest USA...

here's news of a new EO from Obama...: allnewspipeline.com...

'America Will Be Shaken Like Never Before' - New White House Executive Order Prepares For 'The Big One' - What Do They Know That We Don't Know?

our government is preparing for 'something massive' with the Obama administration convening its 1st 'Earthquake Resiliency Summit' and talk of 'California, Oregon and Washington state' on the 'front lines' of potential devastation. With recent warnings going out by experts that the Cascadia Subduction Zone could soon be toast, we find it more than interesting that just yesterday, Barack Obama signed a new executive order, 'Establishing A Federal Earthquake Risk Management Standard.' Do they know something that we don't know?

here's my synopsis, still being developed for a possible Thread....

...Indeed, insider government elites know that the hidden heat up of the Earth Core and Mantle will result in a more 'slippery' condition between the Earth crust (continental plates) and the Mantle far below our feet
the Mantle under normal conditions of heat and pressure might be compared to construction concrete poured an hour earlier...but with the Core and Mantle heated way beyond normal the Hot Mantle is more like the flowing Lava at a live volcano eruption
the 'slippery' Mantle allows for greater and easier tectonic plate shifting...
the concern for the USA Pacific NW is that the renewed hot-spot under Ore/Wash/Calif/Canada & Alaska Pacific...

can and will have increased risk of catastrophe because just normal plate movement of 3 cm. per year combined with the likely increase of EQs from subterranian shifts of strata/voids/pockets of gas or fluids being heated and expanding causing EQs to happen instead of lying there dormant as they had been for many thousands of years - until this present day...

Oh my gosh! A "Rattle and Hum" reference!!

I have the movie on DVD - made a huge impression on me when it came out in theaters (of course, that could just be because I was a 24 year old girl with a huge crush on Bono back then). I think I saw it at least 5 times, and it wasn't even out that long...

Anyway, many welcomes to you!

Personal fave is Under a Blood Red Sky which was released on DVD with both days (they halted day one when it rained too hard at Red Rocks). The show was previously aired as just the 'good' day leaving off the 'mess ups'. Used to get up in the middle of the night to watch on cable (it had just became available in our area. So new they would just replay the first 12 hours over again! Which is why I would get to see it twice in one day if I put in the effort!)

Some musicians in some mag said that Rattle and Hum is actually funnier than This is Spinal Tap because it was a real band! Remember Bono saying, "Its not the first verse. Not the second verse. But the THIRD verse..." to the drummer giving him a "puh-leez" look while nodding.

lmao at the time and sill do to this day!

Up here we just had a 7.1 roll through. As far as I fared, did not feel a thing! See, it was the night of the Great Alaskan Beer and Barleywine festival earlier that day. Was out like a light all night--including the quake!

First off, all, thanks for the posts! This has been a fun, crazy, "cr@p, I have to learn something" past couple of days!

Yeah, I hit "submit" and they said I needed a title! Then the reptilian side of my brain took over (you know, "wtf?")--stopped before I even started. So, what's coming up? Valentines Day!

"According to my source, the end of the world will be on February 14th, in the year two thousand and sixteen."

Ghostbusters II is what I was referencing in the title! The End Of The World As We Know It... And I Feel Fine

Both EOTW scenarios, so I mashed up music and film to add some fun to my intro thread because that is the only thing I could think of at the time!

Honestly, my original intro was going to be waaaayyyyy better! It was going to be a rant with photos! Seeing as I didn't have all the photos I went with a standard intro. Maybe I will save that for April Fools Day!

Sorry for any confusion!

Hey, wadda ya know. We're still here!

Aw man
All that means is now I have to go find my W2s for the next doom porn date (April 15), load some software, locate last year's return...

(Walks around the corner muttering to self: "G-d@amn orangutan! Eating all my Oreos, CRAPPING all over the place...)

Hi there. You commented on my intro thread so I thought I'd cruise by something of yours and do the same. Turns out we share a common interest in guitars (imagine that!). What sorts of music do you play? Cheers!

Little bits of everything! I started off playing classical because I liked the sound of the guitar and the song structures. Unfortunately, I did not start off reading notes (would make learning a lot easier!). So I am kind of like a "hunt and peck" typist when it comes to reading (self taught and need to spend more time doing it!).

With !@#$ else to do during winter time in Alaska, I began seeking out "new" music. So in addition to Segovia and Sor I started listening to old blues (like the Stones did): Mississippi John Hurt, somebody named Leadbelly, another guy that goes by Robert Johnson. You know how it goes. That leads back to early rock-n-roll, then later rock-n-roll (the '60's) which then loops back to my Beatles, Hendrix, Zepplin, Sabbath self.

So in school I ended up taking music theory, ear training, and playing in the jazz band. So all the greats there got added to my repertoire. Learned how to play in complex timing (which I was already doing listening to Rush and Zepplin anyway but didn't realize it) and free-form jamming with other musicians. Great times while it lasted. Made some great friends who occasionally ask me to sit in with them which is cool.

Meanwhile, I am finding my own way in music of the times. And then I found punk! What better place and times for an angry young man to spend 2 minutes of his life jamming along to! It is still my favorite style of music to just put on. There was also the 80's metal scene which I will fess up to. I NEVER wore spandex. For that alone I am especially proud! And I also found "alternative" music (we always joked around, "alternative to what?"). My first real, making music for myself and fun, was playing INXS, U2, the Police, and Billy Idol!

Oh, I also love Randy Rhoads, Satriani, Eric Johnson, most of Vai's stuff, Metallica, Brother Zakk, Opeth, And Oceans, and I had a Baby Metal addiction for a while. But I got better!!

So, yeah, all kinds of music. Except country which I never really got into. Thanks for the question MI! Hope I did not bore you with TEOT's life story of music!

(RE: OP's Intro) Man!! What a noob! And a dork!!

So, the world did not end last year, Valentine's Day. Paid taxes like the previous laps around the sun... And I have learned how to respond properly and now know the difference between 'Reply to' and (the thread) 'Reply' buttons.

Jumped in the deep end too soon. Had to paddle to the side and take a breather. A nice learning experience! I had a day where I totally forgot how to use BBcodes. Thanks to all that responded and tried to help me execute the most perfect brain fart ever!! I could not even spell "Wikipedia" correctly. *face palm*

Besides those that I will own (probably a couple I may have missed, for those, I am truly sorry), it has been a fast and furious year! Thank you all for welcoming me to the ATS fold.

To many more to come!!!

PS - Night Star, no need for a separate thread! One year is nothing compared to all the wonderful threads you create for those getting long in the tooth!!
