I consider myself to be an alien theorist - Always hypothesizing the existence of an advanced alien race viewing Man as a somewhat dumb unevolved species that can not escape the nightmares of its historical past - Always opting for political power and control and yet always failing to achieve a state of unity - A unity that would benefit the Human species. And why is this? Military leaders have tried again and again to triumph over each other and again and again they fail - And the world remains a fragmented planet of competing powers with objectives that seem too often to be at odds.

They did form a so called United Nations but that is like meaningless window dressing - The UN does not control or unify the countries of the World. So is it possible before we descend into the final battle of futility called World War Three which could easily set us back to the Stone Age, assuming there are any survivors, that the powers that be, be they the known power brokers or the conspiracies that operate in the background, could agree that enough is enough?- time to stop the meaningless wars and unify the planet under a common banner acceptable to most. Yes, it would be a 'New World Order' but no longer a conspiratorial concept but a legitimate entity ensuring certain basic rights, goals and asspirations for the species Man. And there would be a leader, President/Prime Minister who would bear the title 'World Leader' - And that's what he/she would be, not a dictator as he coulld be deposed by legal means if necessary but a genuine person voted in in a world wide election.

After thousands of years of historical nightmare, the nightmare would end - Man the species could stand probably in the Universe and if my hypothetical aliens decide to make contact and say 'take us to your leader' could say Yes we have a leader and he is

A world leader will be corrupted as every world leader has been
If aliens were real then they are keeping secrets and only the dishonest keep secrets is for selfish gain

One world leader, just another of a long list of despots

The human race does not require a mortal leader.

It requires that its people be the only power, that no small group of people ever have power, no matter how gained, over others.

Humans are a product of nature. Nature is governed by survival of the fittest. Humans evolved from apes, which happen to also be very territorial. It is only natural that we will turn survival into war given these characteristics. Considering that most life in the universe would also have to evolve in some way, I'd say that it is likely that any alien race watching us from afar also had to go through these growing pains themselves (if they even conquered them).

Just an apt quote by Einstein, who being dead, could not be a leader anyway - but I like the point made:

Sounds like wishful thinking. I don't see why one guy in charge of the world would do a better job than someone given the responsibility of a nation, state or city. I actually think that would make things harder for them to manage, and leave more opportunity for them to exploit their position for corrupt purposes.

Op, while your intentions appear to be good, your premise is way wrong.

I don't think we need more centralized control.

We need much less.

Central authority should be at largest county or state sized in scope and scale.

Rather a tiny Hitler I could easily escape, than a world wide tyrant that is all encompassing!

After the dust settles they will argue for bragging rights to who's responsible for the most deaths.

Its the only thing left to do…

kill everyone, take everything, burn whats left.

I'm in agreement with you.

I'm not sure our species will survive long enough until such time we evolve into a nonviolent species. It takes such a very long time to evolve.

Well we could always use genetic manipulation, but Hollywood and religion have made humans terrified of DNA manipulation.

Maybe we should make Trump our leader?

He could build a space wall and make the aliens pay for it

This!

But since the current situation is that there is a small group of people holding power and are slowly making it harder and harder for anyone to remove them from power what do we do about it?

Nope, power needs to be devolved down to the lowest and most practically possible denominator. The only person that should be entrusted to lead you is yourself.

I wrote a post on DNA manipulation with the goal of evolving humans to not be war like. Most ATS Members replies were not in favor.

Yep. Science like that is still largely believed to be in the realm of mad scienistry for most of the population.

The problem is YOU need a leader!

I dont mind you need someone to tell you how to live your life, but others dont want to be controlled, and there will NEVER be peace, if you keep trying to push a leader on everyone
Iam all for world wide unity, and equal rights for all, but those who want their own vote in sayings that affect their life, shouldnt be forced to give it a way to a "leader"

And also, if you want alien contact, you shouldnt really vote for a leader. let me ask you this
When you visit someone, do you present yourself and let yourself known to the cows in the stable?? or are you only interessted in their "leader"??

Luckily for the World, it so happens I am here.

Let's just say if evils would be grass blades on a field, I would be going in there not with a lawnmower but with a steel-cutting laser.

I agree with the idea of a new system to run the world, however, I don't believe that job could be accomplished by 1 person. What we need is an advanced computer system designed to regulate commodities in a way that would be both beneficial to all citizens, and sustainable based on the total available resources of the planet.
