The ugliest human traits are those that have kept us ignorant over millennia. It doesn't HAVE to be this way and it never HAD to be this way. But we
LET it be this way and condone greed, the hunger for power, the self serving. Our leaders are not necessarily the most intelligent but the most
confident, and even if intelligent, not necessarily altruistic. It is the duty of those possessing intelligence to teach and lead by example but they
have used it over the ages to swindle, and persecute and wage war.
We may have advanced in medicine but the cures are easily gotten only for the wealthiest. We have advanced technologically, but mostly to wage war and
fight over the riches and patches of earth we only get to occupy for what, maybe 90 years if we're lucky? A blink of an eye in the grand scheme of
things. Think of how many wonderful solutions have been stifled that would have improved our quality of life, but were not profitable or profitable
enough...
We have not advanced much beyond cave people emotionally, still letting our base instincts get the better of us. This is a beautiful world, but aside
from natural causes, most of our problems we cause ourselves, as a whole - letting severe cases of bad management ruin whole civilizations.
I don't think there's much hope unless we learn to play well with others and wise up when it comes to taking care of our home instead of focusing on
greed. And we wonder why aliens won't talk to us...probably going to have to step it up bit to be taken seriously...
