Interesting story about a study that ties in nicely to "Education" and "Media" and how one particular TV show can affect people's perception of what's real and what is Hollywood fantasy.

Apparently many college graduates think "Judge Judy" is a Supreme Court Justice !!!!!

"Judge Judy" is a real person (Judy Sheindlin) and a real former judge and she stars on a famous TV show about court cases.

But she's not a Supreme Court Justice and never was.

This article gets a little testie about the whole thing....
10% of college grads believe Judge Judy sits on the Supreme Court

and here's the "study" ...
Crisis in Civic Education

That’s today’s “higher education” for ya…

This doesn’t surprise me at all. Today’s college students don’t recognize Reagan.

They spend a lot of time studying issues other than history like sex toy workshops.

They get extra credit for not shaving their armpits.

And they want to abandon traditional applications, transcripts and test scores because they are ‘all about privilege and wealth’.

It’s no wonder they can’t even distinguish between a TV judge and an actual judge on the Supreme Coutr.

Is Anybody Surprised?

How truly sad

This makes us all look like a bunch of idiots!

Freakin Judge Judy? REALLY?

What about Judge Joe Brown...is he a member too? FFS!

Good Grief! We are truly screwed aren't we?

Is it the Teachers, the Students, or the Administrators?

Is there a master plan to generationally "de-educate" the population?

The Media must be playing a role.

Free college with these kids?
No thanks.

Some of us value educational institutions.

Give 'em a reality show called "The Campus" where they can get credit for sitting at home and texting their knowledge base of the show's stars and hypothetical drama and "educational" situations and reenactments of naturalistic educational material in a format they can understand. Points if they can email their essays with anything remotely coherent to proper grammar.

Don't tarnish a campus any further with these spoiled airhead bottomfeeders.

That means 90% didn't.
Likely better than the general public.

Have any of you been on a "higher-education" campus in recent years and seen the kids that are roaming around? Going to college used to be a mark of intellectual curiosity and scholastic excellence. Now it's just a friggin' business.

I don't think this is an indication of dumbing down of the general populace, rather letting that general populace where they should never set foot. It's meant for elite, and I'm not ashamed to admit that.

Could it be that on the flat Earth she is a Supreme Court judge. Her time there will probably end after the Sun goes around the Earth 6 more times.

I wish I knew but, my 13 year old at least knows that Judge Judy is an entertainer. Thank God for that at least.

I'm very active though in finding out what he is learning in school and quick to show him another version of what he is taught...sadly it is usually a more "accurate" version but, at least he is getting a well rounded education. lol

Then that might indicate a different psychological "problem".

Just goes to show ya... 'educated' is not always synonomous with 'well-informed'.
