21 Ayn Rand Christmas Cards

Did Ayn Rand send Christmas cards? According to Scott McConnell's 100 Voices: An Oral History of Ayn Rand she did indeed. Unfortunately, none are included in McConnell's 656 page book.

Fortunately, with a little help from the Ayn Rand Archives*, we're able to present to you this exclusive, never-before-seen collection of Ayn Rand favorites.

This is an attitude that is still all too prevalent among some factions of society.... what do you guys think????
Does it still hold water?

I see a very weird dimensional warp going on in our country. I just don't know what to make of it.

I welcome all explanations.

EDIT: OH! And, HAPPY HOLIDAYS, everyone!

Those cards are just nifty... if you're an amoral, selfish piece of crap that is. They're so bad it's almost comical. Almost.

Are these cards for real?!

They are some of the "oddest" greeting IMO I have seen...

Now, granted I have been indulging in the "holiday spirits" today but, these are just awful!

She actually made these or someone just put her quotes to images they found?

Nah! They aren't real. They are fictionalized. Somebody has a hate on for Ayn Rand.

Here's what it says at the end of the article:

*The representative from the Ayn Rand Archives called me a looter and screamed something unintelligible so some Christmas cards may be fictionalized representations of actual Ayn Rand Christmas cards.

So, I have no idea. Still, I think it struck not a few nerves. Just thought it was interesting.

Great Satire though.

"I give people Ayn Rand with trappings" -

Just one of today's comments to the article......

In the end, I have come to the realization that a more libertarian philosophy is the only way to ensure that people are free to be who and what they choose, even if that means they get to be what you might consider horrible, hateful and disgusting.

If you truly believe that it is not for you to judge, then why does it bother you so much that you bother with these?

In the end, the only person you can truly control is yourself and your own actions toward others. If you choose to be what you think you ought, then you are indeed the change you want to see in the world and if enough of us do that, then the world will become that better place.

But trying to compel everyone to be the moral person you think is a moral person is doomed to failure form the outset. After all, as you say, not everyone sees morality the way you do. The best you can hope for is to convince, not compel.

You think Ayn Rand was a hateful old goat? Well, she was the product of the old, compassionate Soviet forced system that made her.

From she who never did a 'productive' bit of labor in her life...

An interview with Evva Pryror, a social worker and consultant to Miss Rand's law firm of Ernst, Cane, Gitlin and Winick verified that on Miss Rand's behalf she secured Rand's Social Security and Medicare payments which Ayn received under the name of Ann O'Connor (husband Frank O'Connor).
As Pryor said, "Doctors cost a lot more money than books earn and she could be totally wiped out" without the aid of these two government programs. Ayn took the bail out even though Ayn "despised government interference and felt that people should and could live independently... She didn't feel that an individual should take help."

But alas she did and said it was wrong for everyone else to do so.

I repeat:

But go ahead and continue to try to compel people into what you think is compassion. You will only poison more wells like you Ayn that way.

If charity is good, then forcing charity must be double-good!

Ayn Rand was the perfect conservatives' example of do as I say, not do as i do....

Rail against the system but take every advantage of it when you need it. And don't take personal responsibility...ugly old hypocrite!!

What a great role model eh? Go Galt....

Do you really want to bring up "take advantage of it when you need it" and "don't take personal responsibility"?

Are you sure you are not a Conservative?

I'm a capitalist business man entrepreneur and I take every advantage afforded me under the law. I support the 2nd, approve of capital punishment and a few other conservative one button issues but I'm not a conservative or liberal....radical might be a better description of where I fall on the political spectrum. Peace, Love and FREEDOM. And leave me the **** alone.!

Rand didn't want freedom....she wanted a corporate oligarchy. I find it very odd that so many Christian Conservatives idolize Ayn the atheist.

Ayn Rand was a complete contradiction. She may well have been a product of the Cold War zeitgeist, but her 'truisms' and policy inclinations haven't held up well against the scrutiny of history, and the outcomes borne of her 'philosophy' have proven a net negative for society as a whole.

Yes. And it's hilarious. If you don't understand why, then you are part of the crowd this is making fun of.
