It's just meteorites. Perhaps a straggler from the last couple episodes that flew by in the past few months.

According to Intellicast, I'm due for a partly cloudy Christmas Eve, which is a huge improvement in sky watching over what we've been having every day (rain, rain, rain, fog, clouds, rain.) If there's some good action going on, I really hope at least some of the sky breaks through this bleh.

Thanks for the heads up! (Pun intended)

Interesting that an executive order for the 24th for government agencies to close for half-day. But then again its probably for people to see their families, but its the first I've seen for this date. Maybe something, maybe nothing. Prob just nothing

On the first vid, I saw that one about a week and a half ago. The second is Dahboo, but that doesn't mean it's not true, I actually like him. The third, I have not seen, good one.

In regard to Christmas Eve, what does the uploader mean by 'perilously close' ?

eta: The asteroid will pass 28x farther than the moon.

Missile test

"The U.S. Navy confirmed the object in the sky was a missile test from Point Mugu, CA." was one of the comments in the link to the blaze listed in the OP

Looks like a meteor.
Comets can been seen from millions of miles away and Asteroid 2003 SD220 is said to be 6.7 million miles from Earth (or 28 Earth-Moon distances) at closest approach on December 24th.

The beginning of what, exactly? That is not a comet. That is not an asteroid. Bolides are not all that unusual.

2003 SD220 will miss us by 28 times the distance to the Moon. You find that scary?

I thought it looked a little slow yet it's hard to tell with the shaky video.

Is a "comment" a valid source?
It doesn't really look like a rocket.

We don't get enough close calls. Boring, boring. We need a mile wide asteroid coming in a quarter of the way to the moon someday soon so we get some real excitement.

Making these long distance events out to be something just doesn't cut the cake.

You know sometimes i look up and think that our moon might fall on us....imagine what we would do with all that cheese.

But hey, its perilously close right.....bloody doom porn.

I looked at a newsfeed talking about one on Saturday and one the day of the feed. The problem is I couldn't tell when the feed was from. You used to be able to right click on the video and you could get info on the day it was made, but it doesn't work that way anymore.

They should have to list the date of news articles and videos.

Yeah.
They should make them do that.

So the videos are a hoax, meaning the dates are wrong?
