Are they planning to make this a commercial venture? I am dubious it will succeed if so.

Let's hope they make the necessary safety updates to it before they out it in the air again

But pretty cool news otherwise.

Airshows and charter flights.

Nice bit of nostalgia there. Not sure how this will work though, one of the main problems with concorde was the noise, many places refused to accept it because it was so loud.

Hope to see it in the skies though, despite the noise.

The issues with the Concorde go beyond its running costs vs earning capability.

Most of its engineering has passed 'end of life' and for safety sake needs total replacement. The costs are similar to building a new Concorde from scratch.

These days we could use graphite fibre panels and other new tech to build a better,more efficient Concorde but it would require massive re-engineering.

How much spares are left along with the tooling stuff? I'd imagine it'll be like the vulcan that after a while it'll become too hard to keep up and get parked up where it is now.

Its a pity as it was profitable and the only time a civilian could in theory land in the US before they'd left

Would love to see this however like the XH558 Vulcan without the support of the "technical authority's" whos withdrawal of support shortly after the Paris crash also grounded Concorde.
Then the CAA will not grant an airworthiness certificate
and without that all the money on earth aint getting you off the ground!

there have been several campaigns to get Concorde back in the air and for the reasons above all failed
without the direct technical support of company's like BAE, Rolls Royce and in Concorde's case i think
Aerospatiale of France then the best that can be hoped for is a fast taxi bus.

the CAA are Draconian with the rules for good reasons especially regarding old complex multi engine
craft like Concorde and Vulcan.

For that thing to fly again would prove much of what we already know about the 1%ers.
(Perhaps their numbers are growing toward 2%?

If you read the historic aircraft forums on keeping the Vulcan in the air for the last few years restarting the Concord will be a very costly and difficult engineering feat.Money is better spent on researching a new airframe with lessons learned.

If it goes airborne, the operators may decide not to go supersonic.
