Update on this

ARES is entering it's third phase of development with DARPA preparing for land testing at Yuma in January and it's first test flights in June 2016.

I just think it's a fantastic thing, I like the idea of unmanned mules and flying things moving stuff about. Endless possibilities.

Imagine your marines are in a firefight and the enemy brings up armour, one of these could be delivering a Javelin system to the troops from an fob in 10 minutes, with some water, food and more ammo, plus a mortar for you to clear out a machine gun nest. Or just equip it with a missile module and have it Hellfire the armour.

I'm sure propulsion is the key, or power to drive fans.

a reply to: Forensick

Give it ten years and you'll have unmanned aircraft making threat determinations and alerting routes under its own authority.

Sorry guys, been away with work.

Yeah Zaph, isn't that a comforting thought! /sc

Forensick you're right of course, but one day there won't even be marines, drones don't need water or food.

Nothing wrong with thinking of COD brace, especially as I made a transformers reference!

Cheers
Robbie
