POTUS made a quick visit to Seattle today. That gave me and my kids the chance to see VC-25 tail number 28000 and the gala that surrounds a presidents visit.

Who can identify all the gadgets on the back end of that bird?

Looks like quite the array of sensors and countermeasures! Very cool up close pics!

I can. But I won't. Ha. They really don't like talking about their countermeasures.

One of the things that always makes me laugh is the limo/helo carrier always has immaculate paint. That color absolutely can not be touched up. It looks horrible if you try.

Security was pretty adamant about no photography of the jet as it was coming in until the prez. left the area. They only lifted the photo ban after he left, allowing me to get shots of the tail and the nose. They still had curtains blocking the windows in the airport terminal that it was parked behind though. The officers said that we couldn't see the jet from inside the terminal, per Secret Service's instructions and would remain blocked until after he left.

Yeah, they've gotten a lot stricter about security in recent years. They used to park it out in the open and you could take all the pics you wanted.

Ya know that opening in back looks awful like a escape pod opening ala the movie Airforce One

You mean the APU exhaust? There is no escape pod, and the crew members I knew hated the technical stuff in that movie.

If your looking at the hinged door under the horizontal stabilizers, it's on every other 747 as well. Probably just a service access panel.

It's the APU access door IIRC.
