Well now we have yet another world leader exposing some possible Obama conflicts of interests.

The President of Argentina Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner speaking at the U.N. General Assembly claims some Obama Administration officials were sniffing around Argentina to get the government there to sell nuclear fuel to Iran.

The "reason" says Kirchner, was to "help" the apparently ongoing "negotiations".

Hmmm.

Why would she say this at the U.N. this week?

Can anybody confirm she actually said this?

Earlier this week Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, President of Argentina for nearly eight years, spoke before the United Nations General Assembly in New York City and claimed that in 2010 the Obama administration tried to convince the Argentinians to provide Iran with nuclear fuel, a key component of nuclear weapons, reports Mediaite.

Kirchner said that two years into Obama's first term, he sent Gary Samore, former White House Coordinator for Arms Control and Weapons of Mass Destruction, to press Argentina to provide Iran with nuclear fuel:

"In 2010 we were visited in Argentina by Gary Samore, at that time the White House's top advisor in nuclear issues. He came to see us in Argentina with a mission, with an objective: under the control of IAEA, the international organization in the field of weapons control and nuclear regulation, Argentina had supplied in the year 1987, during the first democratic government, the nuclear fuel for the reactor known as 'Teheran.'

Gary Samore had explained to our Minister of Foreign Affairs, Héctor Timerman, that negotiations were underway for the Islamic Republic of Iran to cease with its uranium enrichment activities or to do it to a lesser extent but Iran claimed that it needed to enrich this Teheran nuclear reactor and this was hindering negotiations. They came to ask us, Argentines, to provide the Islamic Republic of Iran with nuclear fuel. Rohani was not in office yet. It was Ahmadinejad's administration and negotiations had already started."

Why wouldn't the US just send them some...oh right, plausible deniability.

Good find.

Getting Iran to source nuclear fuel from outside its own facilities has been a long standing proposal by the USA - the idea is that iran then no longer needs to enrich anything and can dismantle those facilities - taking away some of its own capacity.

Argentina and Iran were looking at a nuclear fuel deal in 2009 that would be subject to US "approval" - so this is nothing new or exciting.

Such a leak right next to the UN meeting would be most beneficial to russia...

Too convenient a leak, if you ask me. Considering russia's history, for instance her Operation Infektion, I am most careful about purported "leaks" nowadays.

The purpose of Operation Infektion was,

The Soviet Union used it to undermine the United States’ credibility, foster anti-Americanism, isolate America abroad, and create tensions between host countries and the U.S. over the presence of American military bases

(Emphasis mine). Does it not all sound strangely familiar?

Nope, because it is not Obama saying we need to give them material for a bomb.

no. Not only is it not treason it isn't even a "bad thing"!

Because it was what the USA was angling for at the time - for Iran to give up making fuel and import it so that it would have no need to have enrichment plants of its own.

I'm not too sure of the accuracy of this report but there's one thing of which I am certain......Kirchner is a complete idiot whose priority is her own elevation on to the world stage.
That takes precedent over the well being and interests of her own people.

Also bear in mind Argentina has nuclear 'co-operation agreements' with both Russia and China.

Here's the speech -- I just started listening.

Removed link. Wrong speech -- it's a 2014 speech.

Seriously ?

THAT IS THE LAST THING the world needs.

A nuclear armed Iran. Which means a NUCLEAR ARMED Shia.

The House of Saud isn't going to sit by so the Sunnis become NUCLEAR ARMED.

The last thing the world needs is a nuclear arms race between the Sunni, and the Shia.

Both the US and Russia.

Both India and Pakistan have been on the precipice of all out nuclear war too many times.

So basically Obama is pulling a Clinton.

That is how China got their nukes.

Yes. The children in her country are dying of starvation and tuberculosis. It's a terrible situation. The death certificates read "illness" as cause of death, because they are too ashamed to put "malnourishment/starvation" and something as easily treated as TB on the death certificate.

[snipped]

Fuel for reactors is not sufficiently enriched for bombs.

And having them buy the fuel internationally means they wouldn't have enrichment facilities of their own (under the proposals of the time) - so they CANNOT enrich it further and so COULD NOT MAKE BOMBS.

If you understood your own position on Iran you would think this was a good thing - but no.....it happened under Obama therefore = bad....regardless of the facts [snipped]!!

god help us!

No that would be the President of the US.

Never heard of enrichment ?

This is what Iran has been doing.

Converting it's nuclear power to nuclear warhead purposes.

It's what them centrifuges were for until Stuxnet took care of them.,

Sigh........the proposal being put forward by the USA was that Iran would give up 20% enrichment....even though refueling this particular reactor has nothing to do with enrichment.

Sigh is right.

Why the hell is Obama giving Iran nuclear tech ?

When all the rest of the world shuns nuclear power, and is building solar, and wind farms.

Nuclear power isn't very environmentally 'friendly'.

But hey keep defending the absurd.

Okay, not really on topic, but so weird I had to post it. Saw it when I was looking for the video.

In a speech on Sunday, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner completely detached from reality in two ways. First, she speculated wildly about Israel's connection to terrorist attacks in Argentina. Second, she claimed the economy was on the upswing — something one Financial Times journalist was only too happy to call her out on.

In her speech, Fernandez said a prosecutor who died under mysterious circumstances had actually complimented her in documents found in a safety box in his apartment. That prosecutor, Alberto Nisman, was found dead just before he was to testify that the Argentine government had helped to cover up Iran's involvement in a decades-old terrorist attack in Buenos Aires.

This would have been the 1994 bombing of the Israel Embassy in Buenos Aires. Iran? Israeli Embassy?

He's not.

Lots of people think otherwise, and this was 2010 before Fukushima upset a bunch more.

and hey - I thought you think that environmental concerns are all a liberal plot - so why would that be something you worry about at all??!!

But hey keep defending the absurd.

Yeah...right.....
