1. Climb the eiger north face
2. Write the greatest fantasy series of all time
3. Help a friend's daughter afford her college tuition

Those are my three dream goals for the rest of this life.

If I could hone myself and align my fate until I accomplished all three, I'd die semi-satisfied.

Goal-setting is more a process of having an internalized conception of some vague objectives. It involves setting concrete measurable actionable items towards which you diligently strive.

My personal philosophy is you should set the hurdle high as possible--and with each small step work towards hitting your marks. To that end I'll be making a summit attempt on Mt. Rainier within the next two years. Then I'll be tackling a number of other faces throughout the US before heading to Switzerland for a crack at the Matterhorn.

Then one day, someday, if my skills develop strong enough and my endurance is good enough (I've currently only got 50% capacity in one lung, and still managed climb to over 16,000'), one day I'll take that crack at the Eiger.

I'm also in the process of completing my third and final draft of the first installment of my fantasy series. When finished the series will be ten books long with seven main installments and three prequel-type backstory novels.

The subsequent volumes should write themselves quick enough, but this first book has taken over four years (and over 1,300 pages of backstory). It's a monster that day by day I'm slowing starting to tame.

Regarding the girl, she's the biological daughter of a friend--and I'll be meeting her for the first time this weekend. Socioeconomically she's screwed, coming from a relatively non-affluent family and with my friend lacking the financial resources to support her college goals.

Thus I plan on (hopefully) writing well enough and being stingy enough that I can help put her through college without loans. Because I've taken out student loans myself, and they're a crushing burden on the soul that I'd hardly wish upon anyone.

So there you have it, ATS. Those are my big three objectives for the rest of this incarnation.

Now it's your turn: What are your big three goals for the rest of this life?

And how's progress coming along towards achieving them?

have you thought about fundraising or "GoFundMe" for your friend's daughter's tuition?

Super great idea, and I might consider it if the deadline draws near and my funds are short.

(She's 12, so there's a little time)

But in general I tend take the opposite approach of Blanche DuBois (A Streetcar Named Desire)... and I rarely let myself depend upon the kindness of strangers. It just feels like outsourcing my goal.

If I could make miracles here would be my three.

1. Teach the world to accept 100% religious tolerance
2. Participate in providing food, homes and jobs for everyone.
3. End massive income disparity

Without Miracles

1. Visit the pyramids of Egypt
2. A one month or longer cruise to anywhere
3. Visit the spiritual sites documented in the 3 Abrahamic texts.

What would be your preferred method for ending income disparity?

Would you favor a complete redistribution of wealth, would you prefer we reworked the system from the ground up, or something else entirely?

Why not invent something awesome that builds houses for starving babies?

Score the trifecta in a single play!

This is off-topic but I've done the south ridge ascent with a west descent on the Eiger. You're nuts if you want to do the North, but some form of insanity is a prerequisite. Good luck.

1. Learn to Lucid Dream.- There are many reasons for this, from it simply being cool to a source of creative inspiration, but the biggest is so I can
2. Master myself. The World of Dreams is generated entirely by your own psyche(off topic here, but can the Astral realm then be considered the unified Realm of all sapient beings? If so, perhaps this is where Stochasticity comes from-but I'm getting ahead of myself, here.), so I figure I might as well go to the source. I... Am not living up to Myself. I wish to change this.(your threads are an immense help, btw...Thank You.)
3. Play a role in shaping this world for the better.-The other two goals I have a semblance of an outline, but this one is something that I have to believe will follow naturally once I am the best Me that I can be.

Been working on your No2,- sent a proposal to every member of parliament getting some replies. Looks like a couple of magazines will publish which would give me something to link to bring here.

First line
"If we were to give everybody a weekly entitlement the day they left school sufficient for them to eat and pay the rent of $350 on a plastic card for food and household items and also made any earnings below $100,000 tax free the following would be the advantages."

Do you think ATS would be interested?

I have created several threads. But in summary a cap on salary of 250,000 which would negatively impact 2% of the US, but less than one percent globally.

And a wealth cap of 250,000 times whatever amount you would need to retire at 250,000 per year. Allowing a person to make 250,000 a year and save 250,000 a year in a retirement plan. Something like that.
