Police are today staging a ‘very realistic’ drill in London, testing how they might deal with a major terror attack on the capital.
It’s set to be very noisy and involve live action responses from officers as well as other emergency services and the government.

The disused tube station at Aldwych will be targeted, so if you see police swarming there don’t panic, as injured people are actors.
More than 1,000 police officers will test how well they can contain the area, evacuate the public, rescue and treat the wounded, manage a crime scene, and catch the people responsible.

London Under Mock Terror Attack

Terror drills were held in London today that resembled a lot like the Charlie Hebdo shooting. AS with almost all terrorist attacks that happened such as 911, Sandy Hook, Sydney siege and Charleston Church shooting, there are drills being held at the same place just before the actual attack occurs. I believe there's a likelihood that something could go off this summer here but I hope I'm wrong.

On of the top cops on the news was saying that the drill was planned 6 months ago-in response to the Charlie Hebdo attack.
It seems to be in poor taste after what just happened in Tunisia, but I suppose they need to know what they are doing in times like these.
London is a target of ISIS after all.

Poor taste?

Bloody prudent I say.

Better to be as prepared as possible than get caught with our pants down.

False flag false flag.

Okay now that's out of the way I agree that this needs to be practiced we can never be to careful.

It's the biggest drill ever conducted by the UK officials. What happened in Tunisia simply illustrates how important it is to be prepared for the worst.

Fair comment.
London is a target like I said.
Must have been a nightmare for those cops in full gear on a day a hot as today.

Lets hope they never have to do it for real, although that is a big hope the way things seem to be going.

Please provide proof of what you claim when you say there were drills about all these things before they occurred. You can't, because it's BS.

The thing is, they can't win with the paranoid delusional conspiracy theorist.
If there is a terrorist attack and they are unprepared, you'd claim that they were involved.
If they have a drill to prepare for a new form of attack, you claim it's "preparation" for themselves carrying it out.
If they have a drill and nothing happens after it, you'd claim that people talking about it on forums stopped it from happening.

This is absolutely crazy.

What do you expect governments to do? Nothing?

And how does it benefit them?
And yes, I know you'll claim that this will allow them to do all kinds of things, but we know they've been doing all kinds of things already and they didn't need our permission and a "false flag" to get that permission either.
Regardless, even if you claim that this would be done to give them permission to spy on everyone, the damage it would do to the economy, to tourism, to trust in our government (regardless of whether information is leaked), is FAR MORE SIGNIFICANT.

It's not a worthwhile trade.

This is a drill to plan for a new form of terrorism, they are right to do it, to protect the lives of citizens. If there is an attack this summer, then all they have done is justified their training and preparation for it, no matter how many loons on here want to claim that it's all a false flag.

Can you imagine 500 or 100 or even just 50 crazies with machetes attacking a large gathering of people (say at a party of some kind), and not one...NOT ONE...of those people can defend themselves because there is not a chance in hell a Londoner might have a concealed carry license.

I know it's hard, I have thought the same thing when going to large events and my imagination sometimes gets the better of me as I think about all the potential scenarios. It's in the back of everyone's mind but we just have to have faith that our security services are doing everything they can to keep people safe, and I'm sure they are.

I have to add though, I disagree entirely with the insidious and deceitful way our agencies spy on millions of people, and I entirely disagree with our governments using those efforts to gain economic advantages over our allies (when there are far more important things on which to focus our efforts!) but when it comes to protecting the public from rampaging psychopaths praising a mythical sky wizard, they have my full support.

You clearly don't know that we have armed response units on standby across this country, that we have the finest specialist officers in the world (and yes, even better than the US), and that they are always prepared and close by for large events.

This is why no nutter is likely to target a large event, because they know that there will be security in place watching everything.

The moment such a crazy arrived they would be picked up on camera and an armed response team would be putting bullets in their heads.

The roaming threat is an entirely different beast, as we saw in Mumbai, in France, and in Tunisia. This is the new MO of the radical, and it's what we need to be focusing on (amongst other things).

In my scenario, I was thinking of a private party such as a wedding reception or something along those lines. Having armed guards nearby at such an event is kind of disconcerting to me.

But, you're right. In such a tightly populated small area, it isn't surprising that there are cameras and response units within a short distance. Here in America, that is impossible except in tightly populated large metropolitan cities.

We have 350,000,000 people spread out over almost 4 million square miles. Impossible.

Hopefully the cops will amp up security on July the 7th-its the 10th anniversary of the tube/bus bombings by AQ inspired fanatics.
ISIS being in some kind of sick competition with AQ,would probably love to cause worse mayhem on that date,to attempt to prove they are more powerful and a bigger threat.

Be vigilant on that date Londoners, just in case.

Drills like this happen a lot but usually in the background. The only slightly worrying thing about it to me is that it's been so highly publicised. It seems to be a purposeful projection of strength which typically, is an indication of weakness.

I don't know about the other terror attacks, but there was no "drill" on the 7th July 2005. There was, during that week, a conference on terrorism which is (was? not sure if they still do it) an annual event where, among other things, they discussed terror attacks against the transport system.

Not quite what you painted it to be.

Agreed.

It would have to be a big attack. 10+ people.

Otherwise it's its game over pretty quick.
