My dislike of country is the more to do with sound quality than with anything else about it. The steel guitar twang and nasal tonal quality you tend to hear is irritating to me. I can also only stand so much fiddle if it gets up into that whiny high pitch.

Those irritations bleed over into other genre too. I don't like classical or elevator that features lots of violin, just like I don't like a lot of steel/slide guitar when it shows up in other places. A little is OK, but it goes a long way.

It's just that those things are concentrated in the country genre.

You must hate the saw music then. You know, when somebody plays music with a saw.

Then how about Willie Nelson? There is neither steel guitar, fiddle or nasal twang? I guess in the long run we are quite different I appreciate all types of music including classical and even some disco ?

Do me a favor have one listen to a country music song I pick .

I just can't understand how anybody could not like Willie Nelson's voice ??????

how about this one...first time I heard it, I was blown away.

Also, George Strait helped turn me on to country....but he's not really much of an outlaw

That's one of my favorite John Prine songs.

I lost count of how many times I felt like this:

This isn't exactly outlaw country but the guy sure lived it up like an outlaw:

I really don't like most Country, but some southern rock is A'OK by me.

What do you think of this one? Does it bother you or is it something you could listen to?

Hank knew how to write them. This song is one of my favorites. I've been there too many times to count.
