They charge more in America because they charge less everywhere else. They have to make up that profit in America to keep the profit margins where they are. Remember, these drug companies have a board of directors and shareholders to please.
If you have a 401k retirement plan, you may have some of it invested in a drug company.
Germany, France and others refuse to pay these drug companies the crazy prices they get away with in America. As a consequence, Americans pick up the tab. We basically subsidize cheaper medicine and medical equipment for the rest of the world.
