9 dead in shooting at South Carolina church Senator Clementa Pinckney killed

Marion square is a park area usually filled with people (College of Charleston students), it's where Calhoun St. runs through King st. and meeting st.

It could definitely be considered the Heart of Charleston, which is a "quaint" city, the tallest building is a church.

I am at MUSC, the hospital victims are taken to. My friend works at the hotel, she is helping the family members to the room they are gathering in.

ETA: I am not in the ED today so I am in a completely different building tonight.

Kimpson is the Democratic colleague of Sen. Clementa Pinckney, who is the church’s pastor and was believed to be inside during the shooting. Kimpson said he is praying for Pinckney and for “our Mother Emanuel AME church,” as it’s affectionately called by many parishioners. It is the South’s oldest black congregation south of Baltimore.

One of my sources said he was shot and killed, but it has not been confirmed for me.

It was their quarterly meeting though, not just bible study, so he was there.

This was a phone call to someone I work with who was supposed to be there, they thought my coworker was killed maybe and called them to find out. The person said the pastor was killed.

I said that to my coworkers already. It's a possibility.

Black and Democrat ... not hard to see people down south hating him.

I don't really follow local stuff, I am from Boston, been here a few years.

But he is black and a democrat. This is a fairly conservative area.

Confirmation, Pinckney and his sister are both shot.

Status is unknown, both shot.

MUSC ER is shut down. No one is allowed in, not even staff.

If he was the target, and alive at MUSC, they may be shut down to prevent the shooter from finishing the job. Speculation on my part.
