How do wild animals react when they see something that looks like them in the mirror? It really depends. French photographer Xavier Hubert Brierre put up a mirror in Gabon, pressed record and the results were uploaded to YouTube.

Interesting video...

Animals can always make me smile.

S&F, thanks for posting this! Delightful to watch.

I loved the elephant's (non) reaction.

Wow I had no idea.

That so many folks have mirrored closet doors.

1:50 reminds of the scene from 2001:A Space Odyssey when the primitives were touching the monolith.

lol. not many people will probably relate. paranoia can be an advantage, and can also give you a heart attack when you dive back into your room for a weapon. at least we have good reflexes..... right?

That was a great fun video to watch. Thanks for showing it.

The bird though is problematic. In Toronto where they were flying directly into high office tower windows that resulted in knocking themselves out then falling straight down to the sidewalk and dying, they found a solution by placing non reflective dots every few inches on the reflective glass.

Interesting experiment. Notice how many animals are curious and lovey, but the apes are instantly suspicious and aggressive. Sounds just about right. Jives with the current state of the human world quite nicely.

I LOL'd at the first cat.
He LOVED himself.

But, cats are vain that way.

I love the kitten/mirror scenes.

I thought the apes were the vain ones.

Cats usually don't like mirrors

But they were the only ones...

The gorrillas attacked themselves, the big cats wanted to lick themselves...the chimps didn't even budge.

So only those who resemble man acted
violently....go figure....

When I look into a mirror first thing in the morning,
my first reaction is to slap a puddle of water and charge it.
