Thought of a new slogan for the oil industry:

"Oil. It will get you laid."

Nah, its not their fault. I'm sure just like comcast its just one rotten apple in the employee or contractor pool.

It has nothing todo with the incentives or unrealistic demands put on employees by corporations to produce and perform in such a way that it would encourage them to wonder into the grey area in order to survive.

NO, prostitution is not legal in Iowa and even if it were, apparently the girl was underage, making it even more illegal. Charges should be filed if she were underage.

18 is not underage in any state.
Also, although it is illegal, there are always loopholes. most states have clubs and all sorts of skirting businesses that legally trade money for "comfort services" and other ways around the job.

For instance, direct pay for sex may be illegal, but taking a picture isnt. you pay for a picture for say, 200$, and the actress may for completely free have sex with you out of their own choice. of course curiously the picture quality you choose, say the 100$ picture of a woman eating a banana, will always coincide with a specific act, whereas if you purchased the picture of a bolt in a hole, she will for free due to her own personal decision, have sex with you.

Is it sex for money? technically no, and no law against sex in general, so...legal prostitution. Normally its done through "massages".

Are you kidding me....I am surprised it was not much, much more evil than just a hooker, but this just sounds like BS, just one's word against another's. brings new meaning to laying pipe...sorry, had to do it.....

Hmmmm. I'd like to see a statistical analysis of land-owners passing away along the pipeline's path to see if the numbers seem anomalous. Any unusual fires or other accidents? He says he has audio recordings BTW...

Yeah, hopefully Mr. Hughie Tweedy won't decide to end is life with a nail gun by shooting himself 8 times in the torso.

As a former oil-field geologist, this does not even remotely surprise me. You guys would not believe what the culture is like when you enter into the oil industry, even at low levels there is a very permissive attitude toward illegal activity.

Depending on the map, one mans land can represent tens of millions of dollars to one of these LLCs tasked with getting land-owners to give them the rights. It's a recipe for evil men to have evil ideas when standing in some back country miles away from the nearest neighbor.

Anybody watch the TV series Justified? Where the criminal head hired a couple guys to wrap a farmers house in plastic wrap and cut a gas line in the middle of the night...cuz they wouldn't sell.

To be fair, the OP article doesn't mention the age of the girl.

She might be 13 years-old for all we know, making it illegal even more.

incorrect

Hughie Tweedy said he recorded a senior pipeline representative from Dakota Access LLC offer him three times the “sexual services of a woman,” including a final offer of an 18-year-old prostitute.

However, the title is phrased to muddy the waters a bit..clickbait

Ok, yes you are correct.

But if she is adult, why not give her name? Usually they give the names of adults. They didn't even call her Jane Doe.

I don't think it went that far.

The Oil company just made the offer the guy didn't take them up on the offer. So no Girl was ever involved from what it sounds besides the Oil company making the offer.

a night with a prostitute is chump change compared to the pipeline BS lol.
Maybe they were just saying it as a joke who knows either way its pretty pathetic.

The prostitute was just some icing on the cake since the seller wasn't budging to the money offered. He doesn't look like he is to motivated to sell the rights or the property.

So...lemme see if i have this right...

They offer this dude a night of bouncy-bouncy with a barely legal hooker, in exchange for agreeing to let them run pipe through his land?

wtf? that s**t sounds like a "strangers and freaks" mission in GTA 5.

Sex and/or money in return for some business considerations?

Why is this news? It sounds like normal everyday business dealings.

Right... If the monetary offer was enough in the first place, and the guy wanted prostitutes, and wanted to sell the rights, could he not simply procure them himself?
