Germany secretly funded Israel's clandestine nuclear arms program, according to reports in the German media, which contradicting denies made earlier this month by Israel's former President Shimon Peres.

A report in German daily Die Welt claims an agreement was made during a meeting in New York in 1960 between Germany's then-Chancellor Konrad Adenauer and Israel's then-prime minister David Ben-Gurion.

Germany agreed to loan Israel $500m (£330m), officially to help develop the Negev desert but actually to help produce nuclear weapons.

The deal, called "Aktion Geschäftsfreund" ("Operation Business Associate") was not authorised by the governments of either Israel or Germany, according to the report.

Did Germany help fund Israel's clandestine nuclear weapons program?

Despite the evidence Israel has never acknowledged possessing
nuclear weapons and has repeatedly called on the world not to
allow Iran to develop them.

Israel had to do little to none of the secret research needed to build nuclear weapons.

They were given the complete plans to build the weapons by the US and UK.

All they had to do is build a reactor and enrichment plant and the reactor was paid for as a power and research reactor.

It looks more like a banking fraternity did the funding, but we'll see how it goes. There's bound to be more come out in this story.

The west desire to have a strategic nuclear position in the middle east has unwittingly put the power of armageddon into the hands of the extremists that believe in it.

Great job everyone! Lets get a round of applause!

Its not possible that Germany aided any nuclear arms development in israel, but financial aid for desert development may be right. Countries in need of financial aid do receive it from some.

France and Germany armed the entire middle east right alongside the US, UK and Russia.

Its really pisses me off when I hear people blame the US exclusively as if no one else was involved. Especially so when French "truth seekers" pretend not to know or dont look into it properly but then get into heated blame exchanges....as if by ignoring their own governments involvement it makes their endeavors honest and productive in bringing to light the proliferation of arms and war for profit.

Its like they cant deal with the fact that some blame must go their way too.

I applaud the German press for having integrity and getting to the bottom of this. If truth is the objective then people must be honest and deal with what they find.

Weeelll....sort of. Obviously Jewish physicists were in many if not most cases on the very cutting edge of the development of what would become nuclear weapons physics, through their participation in international university scholarship between the world wars. Meaning, even if they were more or less "given the complete plans to build the weapons by the US and UK", they probably didn't really need them. We know today, thanks to the treason and disclosure of state secret - ultraclassified hydrogen bomb designs by former Israeli nuclear weapons worker Mordechai Vanunu, that Israeli H-bombs are some of the most advanced in the world. Or at least, they were as of the late 1980s - early 1990s. If rumors of more advanced, post-nuclear antimatter bombs being developed are true, it may be that Israel---thanks to the rise of postmodern anti-Semitism---will be locked out of that loop. Although being "stuck" in an older technology like traditional fission and fusion bombs is not a bad place to be, and presumably that technology itself is still capable of further development and miniaturization.

Anyway, the best source of which I am aware regarding the history of Israeli nuclear weapons, Avner Cohen's book Israel and the Bomb, does not mention German financing if I remember correctly. Cohen instead emphasizes the roles of France (under Charles de Gaulle) and the US (under President Eisenhower) in clearing the way for the Jewish state to develop the Dimona site and its related plutonium reprocessing and weaponization facilities in the deserts of southern Israel. However, Cohen's book is itself now around 20 years old, and he may simply not have known of the German angle.

A quick correction. Apparently, Avner Cohen IS aware of the possibility / probability that German (West German) money was poured into the Israeli covert nuclear weapons project in the 1960s. The article cited upthread from the German magazine Der Spiegel actually quotes Cohen himself as saying, "Everything seems to suggest that the Israeli bomb was financed also with German money". Again, I don't recall seeing this sort of reference or information in Cohen's earlier book on the subject, but it has been quite some time since I read it. So either I am mistaken, or Cohen didn't know about the German money at the time he wrote it.

Perhaps that is the plan, to destroy it.

After all WW3 is said to start there, ask a Freemason, it's common knowledge.
