we have had it pushed on us for 20 years or more about global warming is man made but here is iron clad proof the drought in california is man made by liberals pushing their agenda above the peoples needs.

'Man-made disaster': Critics say California drought caused by misguided environment policies

Just goes to show you can't have your cake and eat it too.

This is a preposterous assertion. Drought is when no snow fall in the Sierras. The reservoirs are a temporary buffer from drought. maybe a year or two.

You can file this under "straws conservatives grasp at because they don't know any better".

No, it's not. Climate studies show that this region of the country is an arid region prone to catastrophic droughts. You could ask the Anasazi and a few other MesoAmerican cultures about it, but they were wiped out by one such drought ... long before humans were supposedly causing climate change.

These drought cycles can last decades, even 100 years or more.

It is preposterous to NOT learn the lessons of history and plan for them, but that is exactly what the green lobby has done in the Southwest. They've been busy destroying the dams and reservoirs and blocking any new proposals in the assumption that the climate as it is (or was prior to this cycle) would always be that way. And now that it is entering a natural dry cycle, they are screaming that it's all our fault the rain has stopped.

Where does the water that falls as snow in the Sierra Nevada mountains come from?

Is the air so warm that the water can't condense and fall as snow, or is there not enough dust particles for the water to freeze onto?

There has been a big blocking high out in the Pacific that has more or less trained a lot of the usual moisture up over the Pacific Northwest and then down over the rest of the US. It's not that the rain can't or doesn't form, it's that there is a stable atmospheric pattern that is training it away from the SoCal coast.

That's my understanding anyhow.

In order for rain to get to the coast, the weather pattern has to be strong enough to displace that stable high pressure ridge, and it just tends to reform.

geez....and let's not forget that the vast majority of farmers and farming corporations in California are run or owned by conservatives and get 80% of all the water......why does anybody even listen to conservatives, they are spreading lies that are easily found to be false with a bit of research.....

the jet stream that comes out of the western and northern pacific determines the amount of rain and snow that falls in California...except for the occasional "pineapple express" that comes up from the south pacific

There is just too many people in California and they are wasting water too much. They have taken over half of the vegetable production of our country, that takes a real lot of water. Let other people in other states have a chance at growing things other than corn and Soy. Let small farmers start farms again.

Greed and entitlement seem to be their problem there. Overusing their natural resources to make profit or to make things look nice is causing their problem.

I grew up in San Berdoo and just above our home were a series of aqueduct water collection not one of them was used to collect water since the 60's the rain water and watershed is let to run into the Santa Anna River.

If they would have held the run off on those flooding rains they had this year they would have a lot of water.

Uh, most of the country is in drought, not just California. Weather patterns have been messed up all over the world for years now, so your post is bogus.
