Today an ambassador to North Korea to SKy News that they were ready to fire a nuke if we see any hint of threat near our land or towards our land.

"We are prepared," he said. "That is why I say if a sparkle of a fire is made on the Korean peninsula, it will lead to a nuclear war. "We don't say empty words. We mean what we mean. It is not the United States that has a monopoly on nuclear weapons strikes."

North Korea obviously feels that they are the center of everyones attention, at least they want to be the center of attention. They want to poke and prod into other country's allegations through cyber warfare and retalliate with a bullyish, yet mongoloidial stepchild mentallity that everyone should be afraid. Simply one single nuke on a country could send many nations into a whirlwind of warfare with other nuclear weapons. No reason to think that this bastard of a country could potentially warrant and cause this initial outbreak.

The ambassador claims America is "softening" North Korea before conducting "a pre-emptive strike". The exercises raise tensions on the peninsula but so far have not led to war. The worry is one misunderstanding could turn the situation very serious

The threat of nuclear attack is not to be taken lightly.
So far NK has tested a hand full of rather crude nuc's that may or my not detonate with the proper design yield, at the proper altitude or on impact? I would give their first attempt, a one in three chance. The real question is, are they ready to receive, a return volley of proven design that will rain destruction on their little nation. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail.

This country matches it leaders......Fat apathetic attention seeking scum bag. The people of NK are fools of the highest order. If starving is not enough to make you wake up these people are a lost cause.

Well what would be the point of any country posessing nuclear warheads if they were not prepared to use them in response to a threat from another nuclear power.

After all the US launched a pre-emptive nuclear attack at the first opportunity, historically. It's only since there is a chance of having one lobbed back at them they have made no further attacks, one could argue.

North Koreas stance is par for the course amongst nuclear nations.

Hell, who isn't prepared to fire a nuke? The return volley of dozens of much more potent ones is what nobody is prepared for. I imagine every North Korean murmuring (silently, to themselves), "Kimmy, Kimmy, Kimmy...shut your silly little mouf!"

North Korea does posses the Nuclear ticket however the do not have the launch capabilities required to reach much further than their own backyard. Short to medium range capabilities are all they have at this time and not much hope of acquiring more technology anytime soon to get Inter-continental launch abilities.

Now before anyone says China (Nope not going to happen) or Russia will provide I would disagree. First China would stop Russia with a phone call and Mr. Putin is smarter than that. Russia may one day develop close enough ties to station some ICBM's there in their control but nobody would sit still for that certainly not China.

Simply little boy upset with the mutual exercises which take place around this time and lots of talk before his trip to Russia if that even happens. Its not going to produce anything of gain other than the attention he needs so badly and perhaps some unwanted attention from Big Brother China.

North Korea's nukes are merely aluminum pipes chock full of firecrackers.
It's all talk.

North Korea's leader is self-serving in all he does. He is petulant and unremarkable.
However, he is just wacko enough to befriend Dennis Rodman, kill his Uncle, his girlfriend, and fire a nuke in our general direction.

I admit that I don't take North Korea seriously. The things they say remind of a child blustering on the playground.

The "people" of North Korea have no idea of the threat they face if their leaders attack us or any country. They are kept blind to this.

How about you stop being ignorant and study up in the "people" of North korea.

N. Korea should be afraid of themselves. I don't think they're quite ready to shoot anything higher than fifty feet into the air. They're only going to end up nuking themselves. Where will Dear Leader lead then?

One day, they might just be serious and follow through on their threats. On that day, you and millions of others won't believe what is happening.

If it is anything i have to give North Korea credit for, it is their ability to make everyone else underestimate them. A significant portion of North Korea's GDP goes towards its military, and i would not take any of their threats lightly. Their history of not following through on their threats may comfort, amuse or bemuse you, but you will be surprised if they ever did decide to do something. In fact, i'd wager that most of the world would be surprised in any instance of conflict with North Korea. It is not wise to underestimate one's opponent.

I hear the new launch system is amazing...very high tech for them.

Not sure how much range they have.

And Russia & China be like

I'm surprised China hasn't somehow backhanded them lately. They're getting a bit big for their NK britches again.

I can't claim to know what's going on politically,
but I'm guessing NK doesn't really have many friends.

Best case scenareo IF they fire something off, is someone else fires back- NK is gone.
Worst case? everyone starts shooting, we're all gone.

Either way NK loses, though- so what exactly do they think they're doing?

BS video.
Flying time for ICBM is much less than hour.

Let's say slow Koreans flying for 20 minutes, the time taken to verify and to make announcement will probably shorten warning to 10 minutes or less.
