Russian President Vladimir Putin has not been seen in public since March 5. The 62-year-old was reported to be ill, but a Putin Spokesman denied that strongly. The spokesperson said that Putin is in private meetings the whole time. Now the Swiss newspaper Blick reports that Putin could be in Switzerland. According to the report Putin's unofficial girlfriend Alina Kabaeva has given birth in the Swiss hospital Clinica Sant'Anna, which is a favorite with rich Russians.

As an aside, I browsing a certain website this evening and came across a Ukrainian poster who alleged that Putin had died and Medvedev was in Crimea readying nukes. Completely unsubstantiated, just figured I'd bring this tidbit of info to ATS. If anything, it's an interesting look at how paranoia can cause people to immediately assume the worst.
Russian state television aired what it said was footage of Vladimir Putin working at his residence outside Moscow on Friday, a first appearance since he dropped out of sight days ago, triggering rumours that he was ill or had been sidelined by internal conflict.
In the footage, Putin was shown in his office at his Novo-Ogaryovo residence, where he conducts many of his meetings, sitting across a table from the supreme court head, Vyacheslav Lebedev, and talking about plans to reform the judicial system.

There are rumors that his girlfriend just had their third child in Switzerland.

RSX 3.24%
was down more than 1.5 percent Friday after news came out about the Kremlin preparing a major announcement. A source in the Russian President Vladimir Putin’s press service, heads of the most relevant media were asked to be ready for a possible press conference in the next few days, Vlasti.net reported.
Alexei Mukhin, Director General of the Centre for Political Information confirmed the rumor, anticipating that “something important” will happen. When prompted about Putin’s health condition, Mukhin neither confirmed confirmed or denied that Putin is currently “incapacitated.”

Unfortunately, this seems to be a nonsense.
The site linked to as a source for this report is vlasti.net
And they supposedly quote Mukhin Alexey and show a couple of tweets which they claim say one thing, but actually say nothing of the sort.
One says that Putin has changed his game - which I think we agree means pretty much nothing.
The other tweet doesn't exist.
I have been through all of his tweets for yesterday and today and there is absolutely no mention in any of them about a press conference or being asked to stay for the weekend for any announcement.
